MARK A. EDWARDS, Ed.D. EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP 2015-2016

INTRODUCTION The Mark A. Edwards Ed.D. Education Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 is presented by the Henrico Education Foundation to assist Henrico County school employees pursuing a degree in education. Dr. Edwards served as Henrico’s Superintendent of Schools from 1994-2004 and was committed to creating learning opportunities for HCPS employees as a means to provide the best education for the students of Henrico County.

ELIGILIBITY CRITERIA: Applicant must—

 Be a full-time contractual employee of HCPS;  Be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in education;  Submit evidence of enrollment in an educational program;  Plan to continue their career in Henrico County. Preference will be given to applicants seeking certification in areas where there is a shortage of teachers, including upper level math, exceptional education, earth science, chemistry and physics.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS:

 Application should be completed with attention to care and detail. Thoroughly proofread your essays.

 The scholarship will be awarded in November 2015. Paula Roop, HEF Program Manager, will notify winners.

 Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the college or university.

 Applications should be submitted to Paula Roop, Program Manager, in the HEF Office in Central Office, by Friday, Oct. 16, 2015.

 Attach a copy of your most recent transcript, if available.

 Attach a copy of your resume.

 Include a letter of recommendation from someone in a supervisory position of Henrico County Public Schools.
