Union Grove Farmers Market Rules of Operation – for Non-Profit Organizations
The Greater Union Grove Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Village of Union Grove invites you to participate in our Union Grove Farmers Market. In an effort to help the market thrive, we have developed guidelines that we ask each vendor to follow for continuity and by doing so we will be a successful venue and continue to grow.
2016 Operating Schedule Day: Tuesdays
Date: June 7th to October 18th (20 weeks)
Time: 2:00 – 6:00 pm
Where: Village Square on Highway 45 (Main Street at 10th Avenue)
The Union Grove Farmers Market will take place rain or shine, cold or hot. There are no refunds.
Loading/Unloading and Parking Set-up is expected to occur between 1:00 and 1:45 pm All vehicles are prohibited on the Village Square grounds. You will be able to unload around the Village Square and move your vehicle when you are done. We ask that you unload in the back of your stall. Free public parking is available for vendors west on Vine Street or in the nearby parking lots along Vine Street. You may not park in spots designated as “Parking for customers of Union Grove Lumber” – not along the building and not along the railroad tracks. Take down is at 6:00 pm (not before); to be completed by 7:00 pm
Stall Size and Tents Stall size shall be approximately 10 feet wide and 10 feet deep (10’ x 10’) Tents are strongly recommended in order to produce an overall visual effect to the market. A standard 10’ x 10’ EZ-UP or equivalent is recommended. Vendors must furnish their own tables, chairs, and display arrangements as needed, within their assigned stall. Prices of all items must be marked and in full view of the customers Signage with organization/logo/purpose of donation, etc. is encouraged. Pets and Animals Customer pets are allowed at the market if leashed and under control. Any pets presenting a problem will be required to leave. Vendors may not bring their pets to the market.
Vendor Conduct A vendor may not dismantle and pack a booth early, even if sold out. Vendors should behave in a courteous manner to other vendors, Market Management and the public. Smoking by vendors is not permitted in the Village Square. Annoying behavior, including unnecessary noise, will not be tolerated. Absolutely no dumping of excess products. All items must be taken off location.
Guidelines for Youth Organizations (and Vendors who bring children) Only the number of youth actually working in the booth should be brought to the Farmers Market. It is not a place to just hang out with friends. If more youth want to participate, they should be assigned to work in shifts. If youth arrive on a bike or scooter, it should be parked in a vacant area of the Village Square until ready to leave for home. Younger children should be well supervised by parents or adults in charge. Running around the Farmers Market is disruptive to vendors and customers, and to people trying to hear the musical entertainment. Quiet activities may be brought for the younger children, but not play balls, soccer balls, or bats and balls – which may roll into traffic, into the vendors’ space, or actually hit vendors or customers. Children should not attempt to climb trees or hang from the low branches, nor climb on the supports of the recently-planted tree, nor walk among the flowers planted under the Village Square sign, nor stand on the picnic table. Please respect the neighboring businesses and limit visits to the bathroom. Please bring along a supply of Wet Ones for routine hand washing. Thank you for your cooperation in following these guidelines to ensure a pleasant shopping experience. Without satisfied customers, the Union Grove Farmers Market cannot be a successful venue. Dear Union Grove area Church/Women’s organization Representatives: In 2014 a Bake Sale was added to the weekly Tuesday market, and your church/organization is invited to participate in the 2016 Farmers Market schedule. The Union Grove Farmers Market is held in the Village Square located downtown at 10th Street and Main. The market is open from 2:00 to 6:00 pm each Tuesday from June 7th through October 18th. Please consider if your church/organization would be interested in the fund-raiser and community outreach on one Tuesday date. Dates are assigned on a first come – first scheduled basis.
The following guidelines will be followed for the bake sale participants:
Baked items must be pre-packaged for sale and do not require refrigeration. Prices must be visible. The Racine County Health Department will make periodic checks of all vendors. The cost is $12.00 for the one day. This includes a 10’ by 10’ assigned space. The Farmers Market takes place rain or shine. Fees are non-refundable. You must be present for the entire time the market is open. (2:00 to 6:00 pm) Set-up occurs from 1:00 to 1:45. You may unload around the square but must move your vehicle prior to 2:00 pm. Free parking is available for all vendors west of the Village Square on Vine Street.
