This is an alphabetical list of scholarships available through funds established at the Beckley Area Foundation (BAF). This information is also available at www.bafwv.org.

1) Streamline your search using the worksheet (page 3-9) determine potential scholarships for you— select by county residence, high school, college you are entering, field of study, etc.

2) CAREFULLY READ each description determining if you meet eligibility criteria. If you do not meet the criteria listed, do not apply for that particular scholarship. Included in each description is information about:

a) where to apply; b) which application form to use; and c) where to obtain the appropriate form.

3) Use the correct application form! Submit to the correct organization.

a) If using the Beckley Area Foundation you will need to submit one application for each scholarship you are seeking. b) Beckley Area Foundation’s fillable application is available for download. It cannot be submitted electronically. c) Make sure to save on your computer prior to completing. d) Attach all required documents and information. Incomplete or improperly submitted application packets will not be considered. e) All information received from applicants will be treated as confidential

4) Timeline a) BAF application packet must be delivered or postmarked by April 1st. b) A few scholarships have a different application form and deadline noted in their description. READ CAREFULLY for these details. c) If recommended to receive an award, applicants will be notified during their school awards ceremony or by email. d) Selected applicants must confirm their information and school they are entering by contacting BAF 304-253-3806 or email [email protected]. e) Scholarship award payments are made directly to the college beginning in early August.

Requires an essay component: 400-500 words discuss one the following: o Why you have selected your particular career path and what contribution do you hope to make to society with this choice? o Discuss jobs you have held, your hobbies and interests when not working or studying? o Describe your club memberships and your participation in community service or volunteer efforts? o If finances were not a factor, what would you really want to do with your life? . Harnsbarger Scholarship Eligibility  Oak Hill High School graduates, who are full-time students in an accredited college or university.  Applicant must have participated in at least two sports while in high school and a GPA of 3.0.  One award Renewable: Yes; must re-apply annually and maintain a GPA of 2.25 for maximum of three years.
