STATE OF CONNECTICUT DEPARTMENT of EMERGENCY SERVICES & PUBLIC PROTECTION DIVISION OF STATE POLICE SEX OFFENDER REGISTRY UNIT

Dear Superintendent,

Pursuant to C.G.S 54-258(B) effective September 1, 2009, whenever a registrant is released into the community, the Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection shall, by electronic mail, notify the superintendent of schools for the school district in which the registrant resides, or plans to reside, of such release and provide such superintendent with the same registry information for such registrant that the department makes available to the public through the Internet under subdivision (1) of this subsection.

The Sex Offender Registry will also notify the superintendent of schools for the school district in which a registered sex offender reports an address change.

You may contact your local law enforcement agency and/or the Sex Offender Registry Unit (860-685-8060) if you have any questions or concerns pertaining to any registrant.

The registered sex offender(s) listed below has/have reported the following address upon his/her release into the community from the Department of Correction or as an address change to the Sex Offender Registry Unit:

This information is made available for the purpose of complying with Connecticut General Statutes 54-250 et seq., which requires the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection to establish and maintain a registry of persons who are required to register under Sections 54-250 through 54-261 of the Connecticut General Statutes. The registry is based on the legislature’s decision to facilitate access to publicly available information about persons convicted of sexual offenses. The Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection has not considered or assessed the specific risk of re-offense with regard to any individual prior to his or her inclusion within this registry, and has made no determination that any individual included in the Registry is currently dangerous. Individuals included within the registry are included solely by virtue of their conviction record and state law. The main purpose of providing this data on the Internet is to make the information more easily available and accessible, not to warn about any specific individual.

WARNING: “ANY PERSON WHO USES INFORMATION IN THIS REGISTRY TO INJURE, HARASS OR COMMIT A CRIMINAL ACT AGAINST ANY PERSON INCLUDED IN THE REGISTRY OR ANY OTHER PERSON IS SUBJECT TO CRIMINAL PROSECUTION."
