Position Title: Community Outreach Coordinator &Ethnic Press Liaison (MO6) Posting Number: 340936 Brief Job Description (essential functions of the job): Under the direction of the Director: Develops and implements strategies for outreach, maintain communication and collaboration with the diverse immigrant communities and ethnic press, and develop and manage marketing/communications vehicles to promote MONB and other City programs

Duties include but are not limited to:  Establish, maintain relationships and collaborations with various ethnic communities  Attend/participate/speak at community events and activities  Coordinating outreach, speaking and training engagements  Coordinating and facilitating dialogue between the diverse communities as well as with the city and the mainstream communities, including organizing conferences, forums and events  Working with the Mayor’s Press Office, develop and maintain contacts with the ethnic media, disseminate city information to ethic press/immigrant communities on a regular basis, as well as assist emerging ethnic media to connect to resources to professionalize their operations.  Working with Mayor’s Press Office, reach out to and assist department communication staff to establish relationships with ethnic press and develop and disseminate relevant information to ethnic press, including hosting press briefings between ethnic press members and department heads/spokespeople  Developing materials and implement strategies to promote MONBs programs and priorities, including updating MONB’s website  Coordinate the We Are Boston Gala which celebrates diversity, immigrant contributions and heritage  Coordinating special projects as needed  Other assigned tasks as necessary

Minimum Entrance Requirements:

At least two (2) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in public relations/marketing ,press and knowledge of graphics software (e.g. publisher, quark express, adobe), etc., required. Experience in working with various ethnic communities required. Experience in community outreach and organizing preferred. Excellent interpersonal, writing, and verbal skills required. Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of the team required. Ability to organize and inspire cooperation and collaboration required. Commitment to the department's mission required. A bachelor's degree preferred. Bilingual, bicultural persons strongly encouraged to apply.
