HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT

The Human Resources Mission Statement:

To positively impact Good Shepherd’s most valuable resources: It’s People.

The Human Resources Department’s purpose is:

A. To provide support services to Good Shepherd Health System Management for the effective utilization of human resources to achieve the objectives of the organization, and B. To serve as the advocate of employee interests in their relationship with the medical Center to foster the satisfaction and development of the employees.

The department’s services include:

 Coordination of the employment process, including various recruitment, screening and selection activities for both new hires and transfers/promotions.

 Compensation administration, including market pay surveys, job evaluation and classifications, and merit pay.

 Coordination/administration of employee benefits and services, including PTO, the Flexible Benefits Plan, the Retirement Savings Plan, Tuition Reimbursement, Direct Deposit of Payroll, , EAP, and various discounts.

 Assistance with performance management, including job descriptions, performance appraisals, competence assessment, counseling corrective action and discharge.

 Coordinating labor law and regulatory compliance, including EEO, Wage & Hour, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, JCAHO, etc.

 New employee induction and orientation.

 Administration of various scholarship and financial aid programs for current and prospective employees.

 Leadership Development

 Maintenance of employee records and the HR information system, including data for payroll.

 Assistance with employee satisfaction issues, including general counseling and advice, the dispute resolution procedure and occasional opinion surveys.

 Special events, including the Service Awards Program, Annual Picnic, etc.

 Administration of the Substance Abuse Program.

 Employee identification and access systems.  Coordination of unemployment compensation, including response to claims and representation at hearings.

 Development of policies, procedures, guidelines and communication for all the above.

 Maintenance of all employee licenses and certifications
