ACCESSING BLAZER MEDIA CENTER DATABASES AT HOME

Go to Blazer web page, choose Academics Link on left side, then Library Media Center. Links for the databases below are on this webpage.

I. eLibrary http://elibrary.bigchalk.com/elibweb/elib/do/search (Includes book excerpts and articles from magazines and scholarly journals.)

1) Login:Username: pblazerhs Password: welcome 2) Type in your research topic. 3) Students can use three of the informational sources provided by this database: a. Magazines; b. Websites; and c. Books. 4) Click on the appropriate icon to access information from one of these three sources. 5) Click “Search”. 6) A list of list of informational sources will appear. Click on a link for the desired source.

******Remember, only magazine, website, and book sources are allowed from eLibrary for this essay.

II. Kentucky Virtual Library http://www.kyvl.org

1) Login: The username and password shown below are only needed if you are not at a Blazer network computer. Username: ashlandsd2 Password: magpie15 2) Click ”Find a Database” (under “Quick Links” on the left side of the screen). 3) Click “Academic Search Complete”. 4) Type in the research topic

Important Note: Choose only those sources that have a “Full Text” icon. These sources display complete articles. If the “Full Text” icon is not present, then only an incomplete summary of the article can be accessed. These summaries should not be used in your essay. III. Boyd County Public Library Resources http://thebookplace.org/information-services/ Users of this database MUST have a Boyd County Library card. Obtaining a Boyd County Library card is free. Students can apply for a card at the Main Library in Ashland or at any Boyd County Branch

1) Click on “Databases. 2) Scroll down to “History Resource Center – World”. 3) Login: Use your Boyd County library card ID to access the database. 4) Choose form ANY of the sources listed.

Some students may also find the link “Student Research Center” helpful. The “Student Research Center” provides students with the most appropriate research tools for easily obtaining the information that they seek.
