Search engine optimisation: The site came first in Google search results on the search term 'lottery grants commission'. There is no meta title, description or keywords. There is an xml sitemap, but no page based sitemap. The site uses friendly URLs.

Content and tone: Content is written in plain language and is appropriate to the audience. Content is up to date and has a good level of readability. Content appears to be current.

Duplication: None identified.

User experience: Whilst this site is relatively new, and the content has been written and refreshed to suit the IA of the site it still suffers from template issues, there is scope for ongoing improvement.

Technical maturity: Content editing is a problem, the homepage plus landing pages need to be manually maintained. This creates operational problems for content editors that could be easily avoided. Routine changes such as moving pages, creating new folders, adding promotional items to the homepage animated slider tend to require technical support and assistance. If this site was migrated to a more modern CMS tool much of this would be supported without additional development being needed.

Accessibility: Problems include an orphaned search form label unconnected to the search form input, a disabled skip link, and a slide show that maintains access to visually hidden slides, causing issues for keyboard-only navigators and screen reader users.

Recommendation

In the medium term this website would benefit from the improved tools and service offered by migration to the Common Web Services platform.

In the short term work should be undertaken to fix the IA and accessibility issues identified. The website offers a great opportunity to consolidate other community information aimed as the same audience.

Comments from business review

I'm not sure why this site was searched for using the term "lottery grants commission" - no such organisation exists. The site comes up high in searches for "COGS", "grants", and "lottery grants" which are more likely search terms for users of the site.
