Role Description School psychologists provide a psychological service to enhance student learning, engagement and wellbeing. The role of the school psychologist can include:  collaboration with other professionals, as part of a multidisciplinary team, to support and enhance student learning and engagement;  conducting psychological and educational assessments, writing comprehensive reports and providing recommendations;  when appropriate, support student learning and wellbeing by making referrals to directorate programs and external agencies;  counselling for children and young people;  consultation, development, and evaluation of behaviour, social emotional and individual learning plans;  assisting in managing critical incidents;  conducting mental health risk assessments;  assisting in the selection, design, implementation and evaluation of prevention programs;  consulting with key stakeholders, including teachers, parents, school administrators and external agencies;  providing information and psychological education to students, school staff, parents, carers and external stakeholders; and  supporting the development of policy and processes.
