Role Description School psychologists provide a psychological service to enhance student learning, engagement and wellbeing. The role of the school psychologist can include: collaboration with other professionals, as part of a multidisciplinary team, to support and enhance student learning and engagement; conducting psychological and educational assessments, writing comprehensive reports and providing recommendations; when appropriate, support student learning and wellbeing by making referrals to directorate programs and external agencies; counselling for children and young people; consultation, development, and evaluation of behaviour, social emotional and individual learning plans; assisting in managing critical incidents; conducting mental health risk assessments; assisting in the selection, design, implementation and evaluation of prevention programs; consulting with key stakeholders, including teachers, parents, school administrators and external agencies; providing information and psychological education to students, school staff, parents, carers and external stakeholders; and supporting the development of policy and processes.
