Minutes for Band Booster Meeting

Meeting called to order at 3:00 by Norma Johnson Motion made by Janelle and seconded by Mr. Walters to accept the financial report, Cheryl Reed absent. Minutes from last meeting posted on website. Amendment to minutes from last meeting: The Booster Club did not pay for the cost of Six Flags, the school activity fund did. Amendment to amount of trophies purchased for banquet from 6 trophies to 9 trophies. Motion made by Mr. Walters and Seconded by Janelle to accept amendment. Motion made by Mr. Walters, Seconded by Janelle to accept the minutes.

Old Business

The Band attended Metrofest and received a Division I Rating. Band trip to Six Flags was successful. Thanks to everybody for their hard work at the Banquet, we received many compliments. Car Raffle has come to an end the winner was from Flower Mound.

New Business

Folders for new board members were handed out.

Notes from Mr. Walters: The first football game will be in Cross Plains – when looking at the football schedule for next year the varsity teams will be Red. The Band will travel to Varsity games. Marching contest for will begin in October. 10-4-08 – Golden Triangle or Aubrey 10-11-08 – Birdville Stadium 10-18-08 – UIL – Birdville Stadium Khaki shorts, t-shirts and hats approved from for hot games. Uniforms will not be checked out next year, they will be kept at the school. 11-8-08 All Region Band tryouts in Bridgeport January 16 & 17th – All Region Clinic and Concert in Argyle 2-21-09 – Solo & Ensemble for High School & ATSSB Contest 4-2-09 – UIL Concert and Sight Reading in Argyle. 4-25-09 – Invitational Contest Mr. Walters is going to try to push for a stronger Private Lesson program next year.

6-7-08 - Frontier Days Parade, Band will march in full uniform, must arrive at 9 am. Afterwards all band members will turn in their uniforms. Band will practice the Wednesday June 4th from 8am to 10am before the parade. 8-4-08 – Starts Summer Marching practice will be from 9-12 am. Leadership team will start July 31 and August 1 from 8 to 12 noon.

Leaders for 2008-2009 Drum Major – Miles Johnson Asst. Drum Major – John Borsch Field Captain – Anthony Nipper Field Lieutenants – Katie Zambrano and Mariah Leland

Mr. Walters to install punishment for band members showing up out of uniform when required.

Band members will be allowed to check out instruments for the Summer.

Developing a Scholarship Fund for Graduating Seniors - $1000.00 set aside for scholarships.

August 23 from 6-8 pm – Meet and Greet, will meet new band members. Will have hot dogs, chips and drinks, Will plan meetings for next year on this date. Motion made by Troy and seconded by Janelle to plant next years meeting on this date.

Motion made by Mr. Walters and seconded by Janelle to adjourn meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 3:55 pm.
