The School will: ● Identify participating key staff (including lead teacher(s) and administrator(s)). ● Host a “Pre-planning meeting” with key staff - Determine which department and classes within the school are most appropriate for the program (e.g. pre-engineering or technology classes, pre- business, IT, CAD, math, physics and biology classes) and logistic issues (e.g. number of students, best time for project work, timing of the semester). ● Host a “Project Scope” meeting with company and key staff – Facilitate a discussion at the school with the business to discuss all of the details, including project(s) scope and logistics. Students will be divided into teams and may work on solutions to the same project, or each team may work on solving different projects. ● Host a “Student-business kick off” meeting and tour – Students will travel to the business location and spend 2-3 hours learning about the company and the problem(s) to be addressed. ● Students work on design challenge projects – Over a span of approximately 8-10 weeks, the teacher will facilitate interactions with the company to gather additional information. This can be regularly scheduled meetings via phone or in-person visits to the school by the company representative. ● Hold a “Project Briefing” back at the company – Students will travel to the company and present their ideas/solutions. The companies review and evaluate all student projects and provide individual feedback. ● Project wrap-up and documentation – The Education Alliance will meet with the company and the school to gather their feedback on the process and secure their participation for next semester or next year.

The Business Partner will: ● Identify participating key staff. ● Provide summaries of each available project/problem that can be given to the Design Challenge students. ● Provide a facility tour to key staff and participating students. ● Host a “Project Briefing” where they will hear all student proposals. ● Conclude the Design Challenge by reviewing and evaluating all student projects and providing individual feedback.
