Warehouse Manager
Job Description.
The Warehouse Manager will report directly to the Operations Manager and in their absence the Deputy Operations Manager, and will be responsible for the overall supervision of the Warehouse, bookings for the collection and delivery of furniture, collection of smaller stock items, e bay shop and the following tasks and duties, some of which may be delegated to volunteers.
Job Purpose.
To raise funds for the Hospice by overseeing the preparation and distribution of stock to all the shops.
To provide a courteous and helpful service to the public.
To comply with St Luke’s Hospice Charity Shops procedures and policies.
To maintain effective working relationships with managers, colleagues, paid staff, volunteers and community contacts in order to achieve business objectives and create a positive and happy atmosphere.
To promote the work of the Hospice to the general public.
Main Duties
To be responsible for the overall management of the warehouse.
Holding a key to the warehouse and shop premises.
Opening and closing the warehouse and shop, and ensuring that the advertised trading hours are adhered to.
Encouraging and accepting donated goods for sale.
Encouraging new donors to sign up for gift aid and processing all gift aid donations to maximise funds
To be accountable for all monies in the shop, to be responsible for banking the takings, for completing weekly returns and for petty cash in the shop, and maintaining other records as required.
To co-ordinate and manage the work of the warehouse and shop volunteers this is to include carrying out a through induction and training of all new volunteers within the first three months, overseeing the volunteer rota and encouraging volunteers to take an interest in the shop and Hospice.
To ensure the best possible presentation and display of goods for sale. Sorting an preparing goods for sale, and adhering to the pricing policy for the shop.
To be responsible overall for the bookings of the collection and delivery of furniture.
To be responsible for the bookings of the collections of smaller items for all the shops.
To supervise the work of drivers to include ensuring that all collections are achieved or to rearrange as necessary.
To conduct yourself in a polite and helpful manner. Many of our donors have recently suffered bereavement.
To ensure that goods collected comply with the Trading Standards Regulations.
To ensure that the warehouse premises including the shop and booking area is kept clean and organised at all times and that the Health and Safety regulations are observed.
To sort and prepare goods for distribution and sale.
To organise the sale of goods using E bay.
To carry out all general office duties that may arise.
To keep under review and order when necessary stationery and forms required by the warehouse, shop and office.
To attend regular staff meetings.
To assist with any other duties as they arise.
Training.
Full training will be given in all aspects of the administration of the bookings, distribution and general office administration.
Attendance at training sessions elsewhere may occasionally be required.
Working Hours and Conditions of Employment.
Hours as required to carry out duties, but are estimated at thirty-seven and a half hours per week Monday to Friday . There is a one hour lunch break.
Holidays are twenty five days per year plus bank holidays.
The position is subject to a three month probationary period.
