DESIGNED FOR GENERAL AREA LIGHTING REQUIRING GOOD OPTICAL CONTROL COMBINED WITH CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURE.

The luminaire component shall consist of a separate lamp compartment with a clear, opaque or fluted diffuser and a cylindrical GRP column providing a seamless and smooth surface. The BEKA BEACON shall be available in either 150W metal halide or 21W LED. The control gear shall be housed within the column and shall be mounted upon a removable gear tray. The hot-dipped galvanized base plate, for surface mounting, shall be moulded into the GRP column.

The luminaire shall bear the SANS 60598-2-3 safety mark.

The GRP column shall be manufactured in accordance with the ISO 9001:2000 quality system.

The BEKA BEACON shall have a degree of protection that complies with SANS 60598-2-3:

Lamp compartment: IP66

The IP rating shall be certified by a SABS test report.

The control gear shall be housed within the GRP column. Access to the gear compartment shall be gained through an access door in the GRP column. The control gear shall be mounted on a removable gear tray and shall be suitable for operation with the specified rating of the lamp on a 230V +3%/-10% 50Hz single-phase system.

The lamp holder shall comply with VC 8011, be rated to withstand 240°C and shall prevent possible loosening of the lamp caused by vibrations.

All control gear components shall be removable and bear the relevant SABS mark. All internal wiring shall be Teflon® coated with protective sleeving to prevent damage by possible abrasion. All screws, bolts and metal parts shall be stainless steel or noncorrosive material. Mains connections shall be by means of a suitable screw terminal block with a wire clamping contact. Ignitors, where applicable, shall be of the superposed pulse type. The luminaire shall be power factor corrected to a minimum of 0,9.
