This unit will consist of class discussions, activities, and assignments that encourage critical and creative thinking. Your child will be encouraged to reflect upon the reading and discuss with peers: the motives, conflicts, and traits of the characters.

Each student will annotate their books by using a sticky note system that I will introduce. The content of the Novel works to enhance the meaning of the text, create a more critical thinking process, and will consequently promote a higher level of learning and understanding. However, I still wish to have your consent.

Students will be reading the Novel in class as well as for homework. I have provided a schedule below that should deadline for reading and their projects. We will not be able to read all of this during class time so your child will have nightly reading assignments to ensure we stay on schedule.

Students will need to purchase their own copy of the novel or borrow one from their local Library. There are many places where you can purchase a copy of the Novel: Barnes and Noble, Half Priced Books and Amazon.

Students whose parents do not indicate permission or those students who do not return the parent permission form will read an alternative novel.
