This is your syllabus. It’s your guide for taking this class. READ IT ALL! READ IT OFTEN!

CLASS PREREQUISITES: COMPASS: 44-65

HOW DOES A FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE CLASS WORK? The major difference between a flexible schedule class and a traditional classroom is that you will be in class half of the usual course time. Flexible schedule classes consist of a combination of: A) Small group sessions once a week. B) Individual study and lab time in the Student Learning Center C) One-on-one work with the instructor

WHEN DO I COME TO CLASS? Pick one group session only from the following times. This is the one and only session you must come to each week. You will, however, need additional time spent in the SLC Lab, and at home, to complete assignments. DAY: Attendance Policy: Tuesday 1p—2:20p in Bldg. 2 Rm. 212 Student may be expected to withdraw Wednesday 10a—11:20a in Bldg. 2 Rm. 212 from this course or risk receiving a failing EVENING: grade if he or she misses more than Tuesday 4:30p—5:50p in Bldg. 2 Rm. 246 20percent of this class (more than two classes).

WHAT BOOKS AND SUPPLIES WILL I NEED? Vocabulary Skills Workbook Manila folders & Note Paper Independent Reading Project book TBA WHAT DO I DO OUTSIDE OF CLASS? The formula for college classes is to set aside at least two hours of study for every credit you are taking. That means you will need to schedule six hours of independent study each week in addition to our group sessions. You will be accessing on-line links and projects, working in your workbooks, and using the Student Learning Center Lab.

**You will also need to attend one SLC workshop, and schedule one session with a Reading tutor.

LAB IS OPEN: Monday –Thursday: 8a-8p; Friday: 8a-3p; Saturday: 11a-3p. Please log-in on the computer whenever your work in the SLC lab.
