CDR Aisha K. Mix, MPH, MSN, RN, CCM

Aisha Mix is a Senior Public Health Analyst in the Division of Policy and Shortage Designation within the Bureau of Clinician Recruitment and Service (BCRS) at HRSA. BCRS addresses the nationwide shortage of health care providers through scholarship and loan repayment programs that help underserved communities and shortage facilities recruit and retain qualified health professionals. Prior to joining BCRS in 2011, CDR Mix led the Nursing Workforce Diversity Program in the HRSA Division of Nursing, a $16M effort to increase nursing education opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

CDR Mix’s academic and professional interests include health policy and community-based interventions that address health disparities, health care workforce diversity and perinatal health. As a registered nurse, CDR Mix’s experience reflects her interests and includes work as a labor and delivery nurse, manager of State and military case management programs, and catastrophic care coordinator.

CDR Mix earned the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Nursing from Hampton University, the Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University, and is currently enrolled in doctoral studies at Case Western Reserve University. She has also received official recognition as a Certified Case Manager.

CDR Mix joined HRSA as a HRSA Scholar in 2004 and became an officer in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps in 2006. She is the Deputy Team Lead for the Services Access Team (SAT-5) deployment team and serves as the Commissioned Officer Foundation (COF) Liaison for BCOAG. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc., a national nursing organization.
