Deceptive Practices and other events

14-15 Nov 16, 1803-0337 hours. Deception/Fraud/Unlawful use of Credit card. 5148 N Harlem Ave. (Mobil Gas Station). Victim stated that unk off(s) had made two purchases using her Master card in the amounts of $92.59 and $93.61. The Credit card was then cancelled and HHPD Detective Division is investigating. Burglary / Thefts / Criminal Damage to Property 3 Nov 16, 2100 hours. Retail Theft. 4555 N. Nagle Ave. (Citgo gas station). Owner stated that a M/W subject had taken Slim Jims and Cupcakes valued at around $13.00 and left the store without paying for the merchandise. The subject was then apprehended by HHPD officers at Nagle and Strong Ave. A Koryakin, Orest M/W 27 YOA, 6821 Northwest Highway, Chicago was charged with Misdemeanor Retail Theft on a signed complaint. 3-4 Nov 16, 1500-1100 hours. Theft from Motor Vehicle. Victim stated that unk off(s) had taken her front IL plate # Q815521 from her 2010 black Nissan Rogue. 7 Nov 16, 1140 hours. Retail Theft. 4725 N Harlem Ave. (Marshall’s). Loss Prevention agent stated that he observed on CCTV a M/W subject possibly Middle East decent who removed 2 bottles of Burberry Men’s Cologne and concealed them on his person that are valued at $99.98. The subject then exited the store without paying for the merchandise and was approached by the Loss Prevention agent who stated the subject then ran from him getting into a black SUV, unk make, model or plate number leaving the scene S/B on Harlem Ave. Subject is described as a M/W, late 30’s early 40’s, 6’0” tall, 190-200 LBS, wearing a dark colored jacket, dark sweater with grey and white horizontal stripes and dark pants. 8 Nov 16, 2010 hours. Criminal Damage to Property/ Possession of Open Alcohol/ Possession of Cannabis. 6400 W Montrose Ave. (McDonalds). HHPD officers were notified of an F/W subject yelling at customers causing a disturbance. The officers asked the subject to leave when she walked over to a table and slammed the victim’s laptop computer shut breaking the screen. A Hackett, Angela L F/W 50 YOA was charged with Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property on a signed complaint, local ordinance violations being possession of cannabis and possession of open alcohol. 14-15 Nov 16, 2100-0718 hours. Criminal Damage to Property. 5100 block Odell Ave/ 5100 block W Winona Ave. All victim’s stated that unk off(s) had punctured the tires on eight parked vehicles which were on the side streets using an unk type sharp tool. 16 Nov 16, 1545-1553 hours. Burglary to Motor Vehicle/ Criminal Damage to Property. 4703 N Harlem Ave. (Aldi’s parking lot). Victim stated that she had left her cell phone inside of her car and had gone back to it to retrieve it when she observed a M/W or M/H subject around mid-30’s was exiting her vehicle from the driver’s side and that he got inside of a dark blue sedan and left the area E/B thru the lot. The victim then observed that her vehicle’s driver’s side window was broken out and her $700.00 I Phone 6 was taken from within the vehicle. HHPD Detective Division investigating. 16 Nov 16, 1430 hours. Theft from Building. 7401 W Lawrence Ave. (Mariano’s). Victim stated that unk off(s) had taken her wallet and had made a purchase using her TCF bank Visa at a BP Amoco gas station in the amount of$44.24. This incident was recorded on CCTV which showed a M/B subject with glasses wearing Khaki pants, red plaid shirt, black jacket and dark colored driver hat remove the red wallet from within the victims purse while it was resting inside of a shopping cart then he left the store. Wallet contained numerous credit cards which have been cancelled, State ID and DL, $600.00 in U.S.C. HHPD Detective Division investigating. 17 Nov 16, 1616 hours. Retail Theft/Under Ringing. 4761 N Nagle Ave. (Buteras). Manager was alerted by a customer that a female juvenile store employee was under ringing customers’ orders and taking cash and pocketing cash from customers. The employee was brought to the station and charged with Misdemeanor Retail Theft on a signed complaint and was turned over to the HHPD juvenile division. Further investigation showed $497.77 was taken from Buteras. 20-21 Nov 16, 2000-0430 hours. Criminal Trespass to Vehicle. 4546 N Newcastle Ave. Victim stated that unk off(s) had entered his unlocked parked black 2004 Ford F150 truck leaving the glove box and center counsel open. Nothing was reported missing at this time. 22 Nov 16, 0645 hours. Theft/Unlawful use of Credit Card. 7401 W Lawrence Ave. (Mariano’s lot). Victim stated that she had left her wallet inside of a shopping cart and had left the area. Victim then started to receive text alerts from her credit card companies informing her of possible fraudulent purchases at gas stations. Three gas stations in Norridge showed purchases of $45.08, $76.24 and $84.00 within minutes of one another. The victim then cancelled her credit cards. Reported missing within the wallet was: $20.00 in U.S.C, IL DL, AAA card, Capitol One credit card and other miscellaneous cards. HHPD Detective Division investigating. 24-25 Nov 16, 0300 hours. Attempt Burglary/Criminal Damage to Property. 4760 N Newcastle Ave. Victim stated that he was awaken by unk off(s) attempting to pry open the back apartment door. The victim approached the door and yelled out then heard someone exit the building. The door showed pry marks near the locks and the trim was on the ground broken off. HHPD Detective Division investigating. 29 Nov 16, 1115 hours. Retail Theft. 7401 W Lawrence Ave. (Mariano’s). Loss Prevention agent stated that he observed on CCTV an M/W subject place 15 bottles of Bullet Rye bourbon inside of a hand basket then walked out of the store without paying for $509.85 worth of liquor. The subject is described as early 20’s, blond hair with white tips, gray hoodie, black pants and shoes, white frame glasses. HHPD Detective Division investigating.

Crimes against Persons 3 Nov 16, 0126 hours. Domestic Battery/Violation of an Order of Protection. 6818 W Forest Preserve Drive. (Sidewalk by Skores). HHPD officers on patrol observed a M/W and F/W subjects involved in a physical altercation. After separating the two subjects it was learned that the aggressor the male subject had an active order of protection that he was violating issued by the F/W subject. A Shea, Frank E M/W 35 YOA, 4943 N Odell Ave, HH was charged with Misdemeanor Domestic Battery and Violation of an Order of Protection and was held in lieu of a bond hearing. 16 Nov 16, 1300 hours. Aggravated Assault/ Criminal Damage to Property. 4701 N Harlem Ave. (Burlington Coat Factory Parking lot). Victim stated that he was involved in a verbal altercation with a subject after telling him to pull up his pants and that he used profanity while doing so. The subject then became upset and began kicking his vehicle’s doors while having a knife in his hand. A Quintero, Nicholas V M/H 26 YOA, 7624 School St, Chicago was charged with Aggravated Assault, Criminal Damage to Property and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia on signed Misdemeanor Long form complaints. 20 Nov 16, 2033 hours. Assault. 4538 N Harlem Ave. (Texas Corral). Restaurant manager stated that a M/H customer confronted him inside of his office demanding a full refund for his families meal being that he was dissatisfied with his steak. The manager informed the subject that he would make another steak for him but he could not refund the entire meal. The subject then threatened the manager with harm. A Orozco, Hilario L M/H, 32 YOA, 5442 W Schubert Ave, Chicago was charged with Misdemeanor Assault on a signed long form complaint. Seniors

Home repair scams/ Ruse burglaries. Reminder: Do not allow anyone into your residence that you do not know and didn’t call for service. Scam artists knock on your door offering to repair something in or around your home for a very low price. They ask you to pay upfront and you will never see them again or if you allow them inside your residence, they will distract you and steal your valuables. All Village Employees/PublicWorks have IDs on them at all times. Ask for ID and call 911 for verification.

THE VILLAGE HAS TWO RED LIGHT CAMERAS, HARLEM AND LAWRENCE IS A NO TURN ON RED INTERSECTION, TWO SIGNS ARE POSTED. HARLEM AND FOSTER IS A NO TURN ON RED WHEN PEDESTRIANS ARE PRESENT, THIS MEANS YOU CAN TURN BUT YOU MUST STILL COME TO A COMPLETE STOP FIRST BEFORE YOU NAVAGATE YOUR TURN AND THAT NO PEDESTRIANS ARE PRESENT.
