One of the Nominations from a Carer Who Attends the Groups

THE MASE WINS FIRST PLACE FOR SUPPORTING GROUP

One of the nominations from a Carer who attends the Groups

If one had the privilege of having a bird's eye view of a MASE meeting, one would observe a sea of happy, laughing and chatting people. You would never imagine that together they all have an immense sadness they share. Everyone attending these meetings, which are held in three different venues each month, are what I call 'silent sufferers' of the most awful disease Dementia/Alzheimer's. These are the people who care for someone they have loved for almost a lifetime and are now suffering with either or both Dementia or Alzheimer's.

One must understand that MASE is an unsupported Charitable Group which is run by four Trustees, Daphne, Elaine, and their respective husbands Richard and Jim. They organise transport for most of the people attending the meetings and at each Group there is always lovely home produced food, wine and beer, tea and coffee and wonderful musical entertainment and all this at their own singular expense

The Groups don't end at that because when one of the 'silent sufferers' is in need of help of any sort, Daphne or Elaine are always there to offer support, to comfort, listen and advise any time of the day or night. We even have evenings out away from the MASE groups - again giving us further companionship.

There is no other organisation that can match the effects of MASE - it offers hope and encouragement to lonely and sometime desperate Carers.

100's of people continue to be understood, cared for and loved at the MASE. All I can end by saying is 'God Bless the MASE' long may it continue and I hope that it will be recognised as a group that gives complete Dignity and Care to both Carers and their loved ones.
