December 1, 2011

Merry Christmas, dear KY-OH-WV Pilots,

During this wondrous holiday season, you have proven to make such a difference for those in need with kind words, a smile, or fulfilling a need.

The Executive Committee is currently working on long term goals and project planning to refocus our efforts to benefit Pilot International. Your involvement and input are critical aspects of this planning as we focus on Brain Health! I encourage you to share your ideas and participate and volunteer.

Wouldn’t it be great if every single club in your district identified at least one item they’d like to improve upon or eliminate in strengthening the club as a unit. The Club Assessment is an awesome tool to use in identifying areas that need strengthening. This is an area that we are encouraging you to contact your District Club Representative as mentors and resources because they are here to help navigate your path, answer questions, and to be a friend. I am privileged to serve in the same capacity as your ECR to mentor and guide your district leadership team.

Applause to all of you for embracing and requesting changes to improve Pilot International for our membership and community. One item that our membership clearly realized needed was that a more “user friendly” website that met the needs of our membership. We are pleased to announce the NEW WEBSITE has been launched, and hopefully you have had a chance to review the site. Hats off to Executive Committee Member Shannon Clegg for the numerous hours she spent on this successful extreme makeover!

Pilot International members are catalysts for community changes around the world. You may ask, “How and where am I impacting my immediate community?”

1) Participating in projects and committees , 2) inviting others to join, 3) taking a leadership position , 4) sharing your skills that can help Pilot International, 5) being positive, involved and giving feedback, and 6) networking with others to strengthen the organization.

George Bernard Shaw must have had the heart of a Pilot because this is his quote on service:

“I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live.”

We are all volunteer leaders within our communities, and as such, we are all stewards of this international organization and can achieve great things by working together. The success of your club, your district and our organization as a whole in 2012 depends on each of us.

With best wishes, Mimi Wold, ECR

Remember: Las Vegas, Nevada is going to be a fantastic destination for the PI/PIF Annual Convention and Leadership Conference July 18 – 21, 2012 at Bally’s. There will be golden opportunities to interact with numerous workshop leaders as well as network with other clubs and vendors from around the globe. Check out the hotel and Vegas on our website!

It is one I put together. Women in the Military wanted face cream and personal items so I put it together and am sending it. I found out about their need from the Red Cross.

The Snowman’s Resolution Aileen Fisher

The snowman’s hat was crooked And his nose was out of place, And several of his whiskers Had fallen from his face.

But the snowman didn’t notice, For he was trying to think Of a New Year’s resolution That wouldn’t melt or shrink.

He thought and planned and pondered I’ve heard he narrowly escaped With his little snowball head, last week and is in hiding until 1/1/12 Till his eyes began to glisten And his toes began to spread.

And at last he said, “I’ve got it— At the Years Ending I’ll make a firm resolve Phoebe Kayworth That no matter what the weather My smile will not dissolve.” For having lived this one year more, Let me be stronger than before. But the snowman acted wisely, And his resolution won— For lessons learned along the way, For his splinter smile was wooden Give me more courage day by day. And it didn’t mind the sun!

For faith I found within my heart, Let me forever know faith’s part. ****************************

For out of hurts and sometimes pain— Is everybody ready to make their Strength, courage, faith must be the gains. wise resolutions for 2012?

**************************** Does anyone remember the Christmas Ideals from so many years ago?
