Describe yourself as a reader-writer. Just imagine you are sitting around with some friends who enjoy a lot of the same things you do. During the ebb and flow of the conversation, you talk about yourself as a reader and as a writer.

(Warning! We are in a world of make-believe. This self-revelation occurring in the real world could be dangerous unless you are a professional. DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS ACTIVITY ORALLY, WITHOUT PROFESSIONAL SUPERVISION.)

As a reader…  do you like to read?  do you read a lot on your own? Since you’ve been in high school?  do you remember the first book or books you read…how much reading did you do during elementary-school age?  what kinds of books have you read…do you like to read poetry…plays…short stories…magazines…newspapers?  do you usually read assigned reading in all your classes…what are a few of your favorite reads…why…or what did you like about them?  what haven’t you read that you’d like to…do you find and read books on your own, or do you rely on others for assignments or recommendations?  is reading ever recreation for you?  other thoughts?

As a writer…  do you like to write?  do you write a lot on your own?
