Position Description: Ideal candidates will have a positive attitude and be responsible by nature. A successful candidate will be expected to manage work efficiently around play while executing daily tasks. Person should be organized, clean, honest, self-motivated and disciplined. They will be exposed to all facets of the operation. During work days a successful candidate should be able to identify opportunities and be willing to adjust their schedule (and the schedules of our staff) to maximize department goals. Professional Enhancement: This is a special time in the history of PCC and we offer the ultimate work experience. Grow-in experience will be gained as we finalize our restoration for the opening of the 2014 golf season. We have USGA, California, and Push-Up greens as well as cool-season and warm-season turf experiences. We have an outstanding support system of experienced turf professionals, golf professionals, and a large membership. This leads to accelerated learning and career advancement. We have been fortunate to help four of our superintendents obtain positions of their own in the last four years. We allow, arrange, and pay employees for professional tournament volunteer experiences. PCC employees get to partake in the Golf Industry Retreat (an event we host annually which gathers great superintendents from around the U.S.). We will be in the first year of a New John Deere master equipment package, and nearly all of the equipment at the course will be brand new. We also just synced all three of our courses’ irrigation systems to Rainbird. All of this combines for an exciting flow of information, constant ideas, and building life-long professional contacts and friendships. Club Description: Founded in 1854 Philadelphia Cricket Club is America’s oldest country club. In the 1920’s it was the home course of golf architects A.W. Tillinghast and George Thomas. The club has two campuses (45 holes of golf, tennis courts, and an athletic field). We have three golf courses built over three centuries. Our St. Martins course, built in the 1800’s and site of the 1907 & 1910 US Open just went through a restoration program. In 2013, we finished the restoration of our A.W. Tillinghast designed Wissahickon golf course with golf architect, Keith Foster. We will be finishing the grow-in of the course this year. The restoration is already receiving recognition as the best restoration of 2013 by GolfWeek’s Brad Klein and Cybergolf’s Jay Flemma. This included constructing USGA greens, rebuilding the tees, bunkers, and re-grassing all turf surfaces. Our 2002 Dana Fry designed Militia Hill course received a bunker renovation in 2010, and now stands as a true gem. Experience requirements: The ideal candidate will have strong experience with irrigation, various projects, spraying, and working with small crews. Please list training such as: construction, irrigation, equipment operation, or Spanish speaking skills.
