FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Accomplished Author David Sedaris to Speak at Weinberg Center

FREDERICK, Md., Thursday, September 22, 2016 — A frequent NPR collaborator and author of several bestselling non-fiction works, David Sedaris will offer a satirical reading on the human condition at the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Saturday, October 15 at 8:00pm. Sedaris will host a book signing following the performance at no additional cost to those in attendance.

Tickets begin at $30 and may be purchased online at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling the Box Office at 301.600.2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick Street. Discounts are available for students, children, military, and seniors.

David Sedaris is the author of “Barrel Fever” and “Holidays on Ice,” as well as collections of personal essays, “Naked,” “Me Talk Pretty One Day,” “Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim,” and “When You Are Engulfed in Flames,” each of which became an immediate bestseller. He is the author of the New York Times-bestselling collection of fables entitled “Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary” (with illustrations by Ian Falconer). He was also the editor of “Children Playing Before a Statue of Hercules: An Anthology of Outstanding Stories.”

Sedaris’s pieces appear regularly in The New Yorker and have twice been included in “The Best American Essays.” There are a total of seven million copies of his books in print and they have been translated into 25 languages. His original radio pieces can be heard on “This American Life,” distributed nationally by Public Radio International and produced by WBEZ. He has been nominated for three GRAMMY® Awards for Best Spoken Word and Best Comedy Album.

In addition to his own writings, Sedaris has collaborated with his sister, Amy Sedaris, under the name “The Talent Family” to write several plays which have been produced at La Mama, Lincoln Center, and The Drama Department in New York City. These plays include “Stump the Host,” “Stitches,” “One Woman Shoe” (Obie Award winner), “Incident at Cobbler’s Knob,” and “The Book of Liz,” the latter of which was published in book form by Dramatists Play Service.
