Self-Paced Learning Tasks o Read & take notes over Unit 1 “Intro to Early Childhood Profession” in CDA Essentials Book pp. 1-29 Determine career opportunities in early childhood programs. o *View Video “Early Childhood Educator is a Rewarding Career” o Make a T-Chart in your notebook contrasting the rewards and drawbacks of a career in early childhood education o Search the internet and compile a list of jobs that relate to early childhood education. Place a (+ ) by those you might be interested in and a (-) by those that do not interest you. Specify requirements of the CCCC and CDA. o Create a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting requirements of Commonwealth Child Care Credential and CDA. Identify professional organizations in early childhood. o Use your ipad to research early childhood professional organizations at www.cdacouncil.org o Create a chart highlighting the acronyms, names and a brief description of each. Identify the competencies of early childhood workers. o Review handouts “Sixteen Qualities of Caregivers “, “Characteristics of a Successful Teacher”, “Personal Assessment” and “Teacher Self-Evaluation” o Create a Top 10 List of Important Qualities for Early Childhood Educators and illustrate each with clip art, a hand drawn illustration or a magazine clipping. Describe the legal responsibilities of early childhood workers o Review your copy of KY Child Care Center Licensing Regulations. (keep in your portfolio) o Use this information to answer the questions on pp. 20-22 in your CDA Essentials Book.
