Position: TSC Technology Instructor (part-time to full-time) Location: St. Louis, MO Supervisor: Technology Service Corps Academic Manager, Program Managers and Directors Supervises: TSC Students & Alumni

BACKGROUND NPower is a high-performing leader in providing pathways to successful digital careers for youth from underserved communities and veterans across the US and Canada. NPower’s award winning training programs use curriculum informed by senior industry leaders and labor market trends. On average, NPower graduates 85% of enrolled students, places 100% of graduates in paid internships and has over an 80% rate of success for employment or continued education within 6 months of graduation. Notable corporate partners include Symantec, Cisco, Bank of America, Citi, CBS, JPMorgan Chase, ServiceNow, and HP. We address many of the primary barriers that our veteran community confront. Beyond free technical classes, our career training programs provide in-demand certifications within weeks, paid internships, professional networking and mentorship with business leaders, soft skills coaching, connection to social services, job placement assistance, transit assistance and an opportunity for graduates to give back to the program via our professional volunteer network. We provide ongoing career coaching, advanced certifications, and leadership development for our alumni, ensuring that we are developing true pathways for long-term success for our students. POSITION SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to create and manage technology training and delivery, designed to improve Technology Service Corps member’s knowledge and proficiency of technology in a designated region. The Instructor works with TSC Academic and Program Management to ensure programs are being measured effectively, and data is being analyzed to determine program goals/outcomes. The Instructor will be responsible for an innovative technology training/delivery system that caters to different student learning styles such as; Visual/Verbal, Visual/ Nonverbal, Tactile/Kinesthetic, and Auditory/ Verbal for Technology Service Corps members from the ages of 18-25.

Class hours are: Monday - Friday 9am - 1pm from January – June

RESPONSIBILITIES

Instruction/Classroom Management/ Student Evaluation/Administration

• Daily instruction of IT: Help Desk, Network Admin, Database Administration and Web Development skills to a class of 25 per session. • Teach the following modules:  A+ Core fundamental Curriculum  Desktop Support and Troubleshooting: Windows 7, 8+; Network Connectivity; Printing; Internet and Email Applications.  Networking: Wireless, Peer to Peer & Client Server Technology and Applications: 2003/2008, TCP/IP, Disaster Recovery & Backup Procedures, Active Directory, File and Print Service, Network Security, and Imaging Software like Ghost.  Database Administration: CRM Software such as Salesforce.  Basic web development: HTML, JAVA script, WYSIWYG editor, & web image editing. • Train, prepare and work to maintain at least an 80 percent passing rate for the A+ Certification. • Work to maintain at least an 80 percent student retention rate. • Increase critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving skills of students. • Provide guidance and structure for self-directed and life-long learning. • Motivate students to actively participate and engage in learning. • Be able to impart real-world scenarios that are outside of “core” course of study (example: communicating - verbal and written - server down-time with users, etc). • Produce and instruct high-quality, well-prepared classes where students learning are challenged and enjoy the learning process. • Ensure students’ technical skills meet needs of internship partners and job placement requirements. • Coach and facilitate awareness of customer service and phone support skills. • Demonstrate successful classroom management. • Work Closely with TSC Career Coordinator to maintain and create internship host partnerships. • Troubleshoot classroom technical issues • Maintain and keep a professional, clean, and organized classroom environment at all times. • Provide regular, accurate and timely feedback to the students and staff relative to their performance. • Salesforce management skills to measure learning and growth of students and to ensure successful transition of students into jobs and careers. • Work closely with all NPower’s professional networks and The Community Corps to develop opportunities for internship and career placements. • Help maintain an environment of positive, helpful, open communications. • Advise, support and advocate for students throughout the program and during crucial transitions. • Continuously evaluate and improve the program’s contribution to its students and program placement sites. • Assist Workforce Team (Internship Coordinator, Job Developer, and Alumni Coordinator) with managing and preparing students for TSC site visits, Guest Lectures, and Professional Development Workshops.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

At minimum of the following must be met:

• Experience teaching A+ core fundamentals course. • Must have an A+ certification, Network+ and CTT certifications are preferred. • A four-year college degree. • At least one of the following additional technology certifications: MOS, MCSA, Linux+, Security +, CEH.

Additional Skills Required:

1) At least five years of technical employment 2) At least three years of instruction

1) Always selling and always closing attitude. 2) Maintains high professional standards and has an attitude of excellent customer service. 3) Must have good classroom management skills, and ability to work with groups of varying ages, abilities and levels of maturity. 4) A passion for helping people to grow, develop themselves, and better their lives and their community. 5) Ability to motivate students to actively participate and engage in learning to develop knowledge habits that meet the needs of internship partners and employers. 6) Strong interpersonal skills – experience working with diverse individuals and groups 7) Excellent communication (oral, written, and listening) skills. 8) An interest in creating a hands-on interactive learning environment. 9) Ability and desire to act as a mentor and role model to young budding technologists. 10) Must be flexible, open to new ideas, creative and energetic, in addition to working well in team-based, entrepreneurial, and diverse environment. 11) Experience in one or more of the following fields helpful but not required: workforce development, education, information technology, youth development, human potential, human resources, IT staffing, or social services.
