Train the Trainer Programme
Introduction
Effective workforce planning is crucial to the delivery of high quality and affordable healthcare services. However in order to achieve this organisations need people with the skills and knowledge to undertake workforce planning effectively. This Train the Trainer programme aims to increase capability and capacity in workforce planning across the North West region by enabling workforce planners and trainers to engage colleagues and increase workforce planning knowledge through the local delivery of learning events.
Commissioned by NHS North West this programme is based around a detailed resource pack, providing the information and resources needed to deliver an effective workforce planning learning event, including presentation slides, suggested formats, guidance and advice on delivery and more.
Two day Train the Trainer course – 9th and 10th March 2011
Through a variety of interactive learning and practical exercises this course will provide delegates with hands on support and guidance in how to understand and deliver the material, localise content and maximize the impact of workforce planning training.
Over the 2 days sessions will be included on:
What makes a good workshop? How to deliver a workforce planning educational event Practical delivery and feedback Action planning for workshop delivery
Audience
This workshop has been developed for:
Staff with a workforce planning background and who are in a position to increase workforce planning skills and knowledge within their organization Those with a background in training and education who can play a role in developing workforce planning capability and capacity. Aims and Objectives of course
To provide:
An understanding of how to plan and deliver an effective workforce planning educational event A greater awareness of delivery styles and effective teaching methods An awareness of how to engage with colleagues regarding workforce planning An understanding of how to tailor the material to a local audience and organisational priorities

Expectations of delegates
Delegates are required to attend both days of the course Delegates are expected to use the learning from the programme locally to engage colleagues in workforce planning Delegates are expected to organise and deliver a workforce planning learning event within their locality within 6 months of attending the course Delegates are expected to submit a case study to NHS North West within approximately 6 months of completing the course. The case study will detail how the learning from the course has been implemented locally and the impact this has had (e.g. number of workshops delivered, evaluations, evidence of impact etc).
