[ ] 7/5/05 #612 TILL HE COMES 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

INTRODUCTION: The return of Jesus Christ as King is the Blessed Hope of every born again believer. The Lord’s Supper reminds us of His cross, death, resurrection and His soon coming again. We are to observe this ordinance unto He comes.

I. CROSS OF CHRIST A. BETRAYAL OF CHRIST. B. BRUISING OF CHRIST. “Take, eat; this my body, which is broken for you.” (1 Cor. 11:24)

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities.” (Isa. 53:5)

C. BLOOD OF CHRIST. “This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.” (Luke 22:20)

“Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood. (Rev. 1:5)

E. BLESSING IN CHRIST. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ.” (Eph. 1:3)

II. COMMUNION WITH CHRIST A. PRESENCE OF CHRIST. 1. He is with us in life. “I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” (Matt. 28:20) 2. He is with us in death. “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me.” (Ps. 23:4)

B. PROCLAIMING OF CHRIST. (1 Corinthians 11:26)

III. COMING OF CHRIST A. PROMISE OF HIS COMING. “This same Jesus, who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.: (Acts 1:11)

B. PREPARED FOR HIS COMING. “Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” (Matt. 24:44)

C. POWER AT HIS COMING. “. . . when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ; Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.” (2 Thess. 1:7-8)
