2015 Call for Presenters

We are seeking presenters for concurrent sessions for the Michigan American Council on Education (MI-ACE) Women’s Network annual conference. The conference will be held June 8-9, 2015 at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at Michigan State University. Hosted by Lansing Community College, this is an exciting and unique opportunity to connect with academic colleagues working to enhance, improve and evolve higher education.

This year’s theme is: Make a Difference: Leadership – Inclusion - Connections.

The Michigan ACE Women’s Network annual conference is designed by women in higher education for women in higher education, and for those who share their mission. Sessions will focus on professional development in an environment that values connection, inclusiveness, and developing leadership potential. Session topics will focus on the impact of women in academe today, including public policy issues and equity. Through this active collaboration, the MI-ACE Women’s Network strives to improve and enhance professional recognition and career advancement for women working in all of Michigan's public and private colleges and universities.

The MI-ACE Women’s Network Public Policy Priorities for 2014-2016  Changing Demographics - Access and Opportunity in Higher Education  Funding for Programs and Issues that Impact Women and Girls  Cost and Funding Issues in Higher Education (involving both private & public resources)  Education about and Involvement in Public Policy Issues  Promotion/ Pay Equity/Support Issues

 Proposals will be selected to ensure the conference program offers a comprehensive, noncommercial, objective, and diverse treatment of issues related to the conference themes. We encourage substantial audience discussion within sessions.

 Revised Deadline for submissions is March 13, 2015.

 Applicants will be notified of proposal status by March 27, 2015. All concurrent sessions will be 60 minutes in length and take place on June 9, 2015.

Presenters are responsible for registering for the conference, paying the conference registration fee, and securing and paying for travel and lodging. This is a requirement for all accepted sessions being listed in the program. Please plan and budget accordingly before submitting.

Please share how your session title and theme relates to the theme of this year’s conference (Make a Difference: Leadership – Inclusion – Connections) and your plan for participant interaction (100 words or less).

Describe your expertise and experience regarding this topic (50 words or less).

Please provide information regarding A/V equipment, technical support, or room set up and accommodations necessary to allow your session to be most successful. Please note that an LCD projector and screen is available in each room, although laptops and or speakers must be provided by the presenter unless otherwise arranged. Flash drive presentation back-up is encouraged. Rooms will be set-up in standard theater seating unless otherwise requested.
