Welcome to Your 2008-2009 PTA Join the PTA. Get Involved and make a difference! Learn What's Happening at Holmes Jr. High School
Holmes Jr. High School PTA is looking forward to a productive year where our children's lives are enriched, our parents are kept informed, and our teachers/staff are supported. HJH PTA is dedicated to making our school a positive learning environment and to encouraging parental involvement at Holmes Jr. High. Working together, we can enhance the junior high experience for our students, and stay connected in these years of transition.
Please join the HJH PTA. Your membership dues provide funding for necessary educational programs and materials needed for our students. Please consider filling out the blue PTA Membership form in your back to school packet.
All parents/guardians are invited to attend the monthly PTA meetings held on the fourth Thursday of each month. Please join fellow parents and HJH teachers/staff at our next meeting in the Holmes Library at 7:00 p.m. (The meeting schedule is posted in the column on the right side of this webpage.)These meetings help us to keep the lines of communication open between parents, teachers, and school administration, and are a great source of information for parents. The PTA meetings provide parents the opportunity to:
1. Meet school administrators, teachers and other parents 2. Provide input to the school 3. Continue to be involved in their student's education and development.
Valuable information at PTA meetings includes:
Reports from our Principal, Derek Brothers, our Vice Principal, Kerin Kelleher, and our Holmes counselors Updates on district or school policy changes School programs and projects that will be enhanced through PTA funding Updates on campus projects, beautification, and maintenance Student activities and school events Discussion of curriculum, discipline, school organization, and other issues Reports from teachers on PTA funded programs and staff development.
For more information about Holmes Jr. High School and HJH PTA, please read the monthly newsletter and visit the HJH website at http://www.dcn.davis.ca.us/go/hjh. Also sign up for the PTA and school announcements on the PTA Listserv, the HJH Daily Bulletin Listserv, and other special interest listservs via the HJH PTA website. This is an excellent way to be notified about current happenings at Holmes. (If you signed up last year, you do not need to sign up again.)
During the 7th, 8th and 9th grade years it is important to stay involved in your student's education. We encourage your participation and request your help by volunteering and joining the HJH PTA. If you have any questions or concerns regarding PTA through the coming year, we strongly encourage you to attend a PTA meeting. As always, please feel free to contact us.
