REPORTS TO: Director of Resource Development
STATUS: Exempt
POSITION OBJECTIVE: To increase the overall annual revenue of United Way of North Central Massachusetts (UWNCM) through cultivation of current workplace campaigns and development of new workplace campaigns, individual donors and grant opportunities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Will participate in an integrated planning process that will incorporate all streams of fundraising (workplace campaigns, crowd fundraising, gifts in kind, sponsorships and ongoing prospecting).
Implement opportunities identified in the planning process to increase financial support of UWNCM through workplace campaigns, individual contributions, industry events and new business opportunities.
Implement and guide the Loaned Executive/Campaign Ambassador (LE/CA) volunteers to ensure all workplace campaigns are provided personal assistance from the UWNCM volunteer team.
With the assistance of the CAs, will be responsible for the maintenance of portfolio of all accounts with a card value of $5,000 and under.
Will determine written goals (for review and approval) and provide projections on assigned workplace accounts (last quarter of fiscal year) to be benchmarked through incremental reporting to Board of Directors (BOD).
Participate in all facets of planning and execution of key social events, including, but not limited to, UWNCM’s annual events Day of Caring and Thank You Event.
Grant writing to develop revenue streams to directly or indirectly have a positive impact on the UWNCM top number.
Will help increase visibility of UWNCM by attending selected community/networking events, as coordinated with other UWNCM staff and BOD.
PROSPECTING: Workplace Campaigns/Major Gifts/Grants. Collaborate with experienced volunteers, the Director of Resource Development and the President as part of the Development Committee, to identify and cultivate qualified individual, corporate and foundation prospects.
Provide periodic, brief, written reports on qualified prospects, containing an analysis of information gathered from public sources and volunteers. Prospect research and subsequent follow up will be integrated into the database.
Provide regular written reports on Workplace Campaign/individual/foundation prospect visits, activities and results using Pipeline method.
These tasks are not exhaustive and include other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPENTENCIES
Succinct and persuasive speaking ability to deliver UWNCM message and Ask in a small window of opportunity. Comfort with cold call prospecting in person, by e-mail or phone. Must have comfort level presenting to varying levels of people in an unfamiliar venue. Must be able to follow up and close a “sale”. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Demonstrated ability to raise funds for charitable purposes. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required. Must a team player. Must be respectful and courteous and able to maintain appropriate composure in all levels of communication. Computer literacy required; candidates must have experience with standard Windows applications and a working knowledge of fundraising databases. Must be collaborative, conscientious, and results-oriented. High energy level with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately. Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of the volunteer/professional relationship and success managing those relationships in a warm and professional manner. Demonstrated analytical skills and the ability to problem solve. Confidentiality acumen in all situations, business, social and personal.
PHYSICAL AND COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS: Physical mobility to call on investors. Position requires local travel and standing for long periods of time. Licensed and physically able to drive a car. Reliable transportation Ability to analyze and solve problems. Must possess good general mobility and have the ability to perform common physical activities in order to navigate office or other institutional/agency space. (UWNCM complies with all American with Disabilities requirements and does not discriminate in accordance with such.) Ability to interact with diverse populations with equal respect to all. Fluency in spoken and written English Use of sight and auditory senses (or proven ability to compensate suitably to position requirements.) Ability to lift/transfer 15 pounds (UWNCM is OSHA compliant).
