Dietetic Internship Medical University of South Carolina-Charleston, SC 08/2011-Present Clinical Emphasis  Provided MNT and education to acute care patients within a variety of clinical services including: cystic fibrosis, renal disease, digestive diseases, and cancer utilizing the nutrition care process.  Engaged in multidisciplinary and nutrition support rounds within a Level I trauma/teaching hospital.  Provided staff relief coverage for inpatient heart and vascular disease, oncology, and digestive disease services.  Increased MUSC’s Wellness & You menu items’ awareness and sales through educational table tents, MUSC broadcast messages, and social media announcements.  Assessed the quality and availability of food in a Charleston community; presented findings at the 2012 South Carolina Dietetic Association annual meeting.  Managed interns in launching the Charleston County School District’s Recipe Contest.  Pursuing additional training in employee wellness at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and in MNT within a private practice setting.

Work Related Experience Medical University of South Carolina-Charleston, SC 07/2011-03/2012 Call Center Attendee  Processed patient meal requests through Sodexo’s “At Your Request” program.  Managed dietary restrictions according to patient diet orders.

Wake Forest University School of Medicine- Winston-Salem, NC 09/2010-08/2011 Student Research Assistant  Participated in a professional team environment as part of the NEW Lifestyle study research staff.  Directed focus groups and trained participants for the “Photovoice as a Tool for Overweight Patients Facing Bias and Barriers” video.  Co-authored a brief nutrition paper.  Developed and edited nutrition education modules for medical students.

UNCG Department of Nutrition- Greensboro, NC 01/2009-05/2011 Graduate Assistant  Managed undergraduate students during food science labs.  Utilized creative and analytical skills to develop and grade food science labs as well as student assignments.  Conducted nutrition lectures to over 200 students in the Introduction to Nutrition course.

American Diabetes Association, Camp Carolina Trails- King, NC 06/2010, 06/2011 Nutritionist  Educated diabetic children on meal planning and lifestyle management via various camp activities.  Assembled snack baskets and managed gluten-free meal tables.

Volunteer Related Experience Moses Cone Hospital-Greensboro, NC 06/2009-06/2011  Conducted patient satisfaction surveys, test trays, and meal rounds for foodservice.  Trained and supervised new volunteers in nutrition volunteer services.  Developed educational materials for National Nutrition Month, recipe books for the Women’s Center, and calorie information sheets for the food service department.
