Aim This lesson is another cultural lesson about Western holidays. In this lesson, students will learn about the North American tradition of Thanksgiving. Students will also enjoy a fun game while learning about the ways traditional foods are spread from one country to the rest of the world. This lesson will probably require a lot of translation into Japanese so that students can understand the more difficult historical points. Time  1 Lesson: Introduction to Thanksgiving traditions. Stage Activity Notes

Warm-up  Ask students if they know the origins of Japanese ramen (China) and curry-rice (India) Activity: Food  Each row is a team Origin  Teams compete in 8 rounds (one question per round) s Quiz  Questions: Where does ______originally come from? Game  Rice—Asia  Wheat—Middle East (Iraq)  Chicken—Southeast Asia (a jungle ground bird)  Tomato—South America  Tobacco—Americas  Coffee—Africa (Ethiopia)  Chocolate—South America  Watermelon—Middle East (Egypt)
