Aim This lesson is another cultural lesson about Western holidays. In this lesson, students will learn about the North American tradition of Thanksgiving. Students will also enjoy a fun game while learning about the ways traditional foods are spread from one country to the rest of the world. This lesson will probably require a lot of translation into Japanese so that students can understand the more difficult historical points. Time 1 Lesson: Introduction to Thanksgiving traditions. Warm-up Ask students if they know the origins of Japanese ramen (China) and curry-rice (India) Activity: Food Each row is a team Origin Teams compete in 8 rounds (one question per round) s Quiz Questions: Where does ______originally come from? Game Rice—Asia Wheat—Middle East (Iraq) Chicken—Southeast Asia (a jungle ground bird) Tomato—South America Tobacco—Americas Coffee—Africa (Ethiopia) Chocolate—South America Watermelon—Middle East (Egypt)
