Hillside School PTA Meeting Minutes December 9, 2008

I. Call to order and welcome – Karen Gelenites and Cami Konecky – 7:35pm.

II. Membership – Tammy Minsky; ‘A Note To School’ pads will be going home this week.

III. Minutes – Jeri Fitzgerald; minutes from the November meeting were approved.

IV. Treasurer’s Report – please contact Filona Leechow, PTA Treasurer, Karen Gelenites or Cami Konecky, PTA Co-Presidents for further information.

V. Correspondence – Thank you from Joan Reilly for the gift and well wishes.

VI. Committee Reports  Cookie Dough – pickup will be on December 10 at 2pm in the upper gym; we made about $1,200.00.  Book Fair – very successful; we made about $600.00.  Diva Lounge – close to breaking even; about 38 people attended; everyone had a lot of fun.  Spring Fundraiser – soliciting will begin soon; looking to get about 70 family baskets donated this year; class baskets will also be compiled from donations.  Kidz Packs – class assignments are forthcoming.

VII. Old Business  Movie Night – very successful; about 100 people attended; collected over 200 items for Apostles’ House.  Safety – Garine Issassi – installation of the fence around the ‘dump’ has been delayed.

VIII. New Business  Hobby Hour – will take place in March for four consecutive weeks on Wednesday and Thursday of each week; volunteers are needed for sign in and dismissal; classes will be scheduled shortly.  Bingo Night – January 23 at the Community Center; maximum of 200 people; reservations are on a first-come, first-serve basis; refreshments will be sold; prizes will be given out.  Emergency Closings – people will only be called if they requested an additional call; pick up for emergency closings is 12:15pm.

IX. Words Their Way presentation – Mrs. Pilchman presented Words Their Way and the group completed several exercises.

X. Comments from Mrs. Pilchman - Amy Hosmer has replaced Joan Reilly. Mrs. Goldman, returning in January, has been reassigned to 6th grade at MPM for the remainder of the school year. She will return to Hillside in September.

XI. Reminders December 15 – January lunch orders due (checks due by December 12) December 16 – Kindergarten Prep 9am-10am December 17 – Teacher Luncheon December 24 through January 2 – Winter Break – school closed January 13 - PTA meeting 7:30pm
