St. Anthony Parish Council Meeting Minutes April 10, 2017

Minutes were read by all members. Motion to accept the minutes by Mary Ellen and seconded by Lisa B minutes were accepted and approved.

SUNDAY APRIL 9 – LAST SKATING PARTY of the school year! Join us from 4:00-6:00 at Lloyds Skating Rink in Latonia. Just $3.00 per skater includes your skate rental! Invite your family and friends to join us! MONDAY APRIL 10 – CHRISTMAS IN APRIL PARTY - 2:30 – 4:30 We will make posters and Christmas cards for the National COF Poster and Christmas Card Contest and play Christmas bingo – with snacks, drinks, and Christmas music! The theme for this year’s poster contest is “My Favorite Animal.” Children can choose to participate in one or both contests. All supplies will be provided. SATURDAY APRIL 22 – MEMBERS ONLY – TOWN AND COUNTRY FUN NIGHT - 6:00pm – 9:00pm This event is for Forester Members only – each youth member is invited to an evening of free fun – swim, play basketball, climb and jump on the trampolines! It will be a fun evening with COF members from other courts from all over northern Kentucky! FRIDAY APRIL 28 - DRAMA CLUB PRESENTATION 7:00 in Fleming Hall - sponsored by our Forester court - ALL are welcome to come and enjoy a play written and produced by our very own St. Anthony students! SATURDAY APRIL 29 – EUCHRE TOUNAMENT - Adults only – Members and Non-members are invited to attend a fun evening of euchre at St. Joseph Cold Spring to help raise funds for the Feeding God’s Children Project. More details coming…

Moved to Sunday, May 21 at 1:30 --ST. ANTHONY PARISH EASTER PRAYER AND EGG HUNT, SUNDAY APRIL 30. Join us at 11:00 in the school entrance for donuts, milk, and juice. We will share in a family Easter prayer activity followed by a youth Easter Egg hunt! Reservations are STRONGLY recommended so we can plan for food and supplies. Please RSVP to Lisa Faulhaber at [email protected] by Wednesday April 26.

Boosters: Golf outing scheduled for Friday, May 26th at Devou Park Golf Course. Spots available for new golfers. Outing includes 18 holes of golf, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Volunteers are needed at the clubhouse with food, drinks, etc. - lunch and dinner included. If you know of a business interested in donating items or would like to sponsor a hole, please let them know.

Recreation: No report Lisa Bottom --- School/ACUE---Lisa reported that Bishop Brossart will paint 2 classrooms and a part of the library. Members of our Guatemalan Community will possibly paint the outside trim of the school during spring break.

Judy Dornbusch ---Evangelization---No Report

Mary Ellen McDaniel --- Social Outreach---MACC last Sunday 65-75 in attendance 120 meals served. Pro Life. SVDP –No Report Pro Life—Fr. Matt and several parishioners participated in 40 days for Life for St. Anthony’s hour of peaceful prayer in front of Planned Parenthood. Ladies Tea---The event went well, 88 people in attendance with 2 speakers. Bags to Bed Ministry and Prayer Blanket Ministry—Prayer Blanket will be distributed this week. Mary Ellen reported for Bags to Beds, that over the winter 100 mats were distributed

Brian Fischer---Prep The Children just received their first reconciliation. They are now getting ready for the first Holy Communion on May 7th with the mini retreat. This mini Retreat will be a the Fleming hall the morning of April 30th.

RCIA Our RCIA candidate, Kimberly, finished the 3rd scrutiny and is getting ready to receive Baptism, Confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist at the Easter Vigil, April 15th. Please keep her in your prayers.

Men’s Group: The last Men’s group was on April 1st (no it really was, it is not an April Fool’s Joke ). There were 7 men in attendance. Most of these men also went to 8AM mass. Our next meeting will be on May 6th. There is no men’s group meeting on April 15th due to it being Holy Saturday. Also on March 4th 3 men from the Men’s group attended the 2nd annual E6 Catholic Men’s conference in St. Leon, IN. We all agreed it was well worth it and plan to attend next year’s event.

Dan Pikar---Financial Report—The copier contract is now with Waltz Business Solutions is now $65.00 instead of $130.00. The lights in the school and church will be replaced by Duke Energy with minimal charge. Also other options for Internet services are being explored. Next year there will be a $20 cafeteria fee per student. . Old Business---Chili Cook Off went well good time had by all. 30-40 people in attendance. Rides are confirmed for the festival. A Band will play on Friday. New food items on Friday will be sausage and goetta. Guatemalans will prepare the dinner on Saturday.

New Business— Mary Ellen provided information about the Cincy Music Series as a possible fundraiser. Dan will check into this. Mary Carol suggested a railing be placed on the altar for older Eucharist Ministers and Lectors. A suggestion was made to have a member from the Guatemalan community to speak at a mass, to tell the parishioners how thankful they are for welcoming them to St. Anthony.

Festival Planning is moving along well.

Fr. Matt encouraged representation by Council Members in Holy Week Services. Seminarian David Finke will be assigned St. Anthony.

Fr. Matt ended the meeting with prayer and special intentions.

Motion for meeting to adjourn was made by Dan and seconded by Mary Ellen.
