Rhinehart Date: 10-16 HR Approval: nnl Date: 10-16 POSITION SUMMARY The Audiologist is accountable for effective patient care including, but not limited to diagnostic, treatment and follow/up phases of care. The Audiologist implements diagnostic and rehabilitative protocols with a goal of meeting the patient and families’ hearing needs in a medical and retail service clinic. The Audiologist assumes responsibility for ongoing professional development to provide optimal patient care. The Audiologist works collaboratively with the Audiology Team to develop workflows and systems that allows for care to take place in an effective and efficient manner meeting the service standards of the organization. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Implement standard diagnostic and rehabilitative established protocols. 2. Obtain good patient rapport to proceed with the diagnostic and rehabilitative protocols. 3. Obtain pertinent case history and patient data to allow for independent determination of appropriate diagnostic evaluation and, if appropriate, correct rehabilitative procedures. 4. Communicate with referring Physicians regarding appropriate diagnostic and vestibular information with succinct interpretations and recommendations. 5. Communicate with non-medical referring or patient related therapists, school personnel, employer, etc. appropriate diagnostic and rehabilitative information with succinct interpretations and recommendations. 6. Provide appropriate diagnostic interpretation, rehabilitative counseling and medical referral to patients diagnostically evaluated. 7. Provide and facilitate patient’s use of recommend rehabilitative devices. 8. Perform all diagnostic and rehabilitative duties in an expedient, ethical and professional manner. 9. Interact with patients in a dignified and respectful manner while maintaining patient trust and confidentiality. 10. Maintain current “state of the art” knowledge as it pertains to audiological diagnostic and rehabilitative procedures. 11. Within Hearing Services be an eager and active participant in all meetings and discussions that will facilitate the goals of providing excellent diagnostic and rehabilitative services to all patients. 12. Maintain, restock and clean the diagnostic audiometric area and/or the retail/rehabilitative area with appropriate supplies and equipment. 13. Be open and receptive to guidance in performing diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology as provided by the Senior Audiologists. 14. Perform other duties as assigned.

All duties and requirements must be performed consistent with the UW Health Service and Performance Standards. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education Minimum Master’s Degree in Audiology Preferred Work Experience Minimum Preferred Licenses & Minimum  State of Wisconsin License for selling and fitting hearing aids. Certifications  Must be in process of obtaining or have a State of Wisconsin License for practicing Audiology  Must be in the process of obtaining or have the Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology as awarded by the American Speech-Language- Hearing Association. Preferred Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities  Ability to work independently  Excellent written and oral communication skills  Ability to act in a professional, yet buoyant manner with both clinical and retail patients. List any other physical requirements or Requires full range of hearing and vision correctable to 20/20. Requires bona fide occupational qualifications: fine manual dexterity and eye/hand coordination for repair and calibration. Required to work under stressful conditions and with patients who are confused and in pain. May be exposed to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

Work/Environmental: Moderate noise level consistent with an office environment.
