Myers, founding pastor of Temple 24 of Faith Bible Way Church, of Richland County, stands among 25 their number as an outstanding minister of the Gospel and servant 26 to the Lower Richland community, one much admired by 27 colleagues, congregation, and area residents at large; and 28 29 Whereas, in preparation for his calling, Bishop Myers graduated 30 from Columbia’s Benedict College; and 31 32 Whereas, a lifelong resident of Richland County, Bishop Myers 33 has helped improve quality of life in the Lower Richland 34 community and beyond through his generosity and leadership in 35 bringing many local projects to fruition; and 36 37 Whereas, since he began his pastoral ministry at Temple of Faith 38 Bible Way Church in February 1979, he has witnessed the 39 church’s profound growth into a beacon of light for the Lower 40 Richland community. He has led the church through the 41 acquisition of more than two hundred twenty acres of land for 42 development; the purchase and development of two school

[3504] 2 1 facilities, one on Olympia Avenue in Columbia and one on 2 Covenant Road in Columbia; the construction of, and relocation to, 3 a third school facility, Hope Academy, on the church campus in 4 Gadsden; and the rebuilding of a multimilliondollar church facility 5 and expanded campus in Gadsden, all of these projects being 6 tangible sources of hope, provision, and inspiration to those they 7 serve; and 8 9 Whereas, Bishop Myers considers it his greatest good fortune to 10 have met and married his beloved Nan and with her to raise five 11 beautiful children, Sonja, Theodore Darnell, Dalhi, Reginald, and 12 Tuan, who have given their parents the joy of eight grandchildren, 13 Arrington, Theodore, Jr., Treveon, Alex, Dionne, Tuan, Jr., Tyrik, 14 and Christopher; and 15 16 Whereas, noted as a humble, courageous man of Christian 17 character, one of whom it truly may be said, “Well done, good and 18 faithful servant,” Bishop Myers has demonstrated to others how to 19 be “steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the 20 Lord.” As both a spiritual and civic leader, he will be honored in 21 ceremonies to be held at Temple of Faith Bible Way Church on 22 January 31 and February 8, 2009. Now, therefore, 23 24 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 25 26 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 27 by this resolution, recognize and commend Bishop Theodore R. 28 Myers upon the occasion of his thirtieth anniversary as founding 29 pastor of Temple of Faith Bible Way Church, of Richland County, 30 and express appreciation for his outstanding service to the people 31 of the Lower Richland community. 32 33 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 34 Bishop Theodore R.
