PESCARE SHOW 2016: Fiera di Vicenza is reeling in another fabulous event!

Pescare Show, the international show for sports fishing, is back at Fiera di Vicenza on 20 and 21 February 2016, renewing its appointment with fishing enthusiasts and fishing in its numerous technical and sporting versions. This is an exclusive opportunity to see and to get hands-on experience of the best that national and international products have to offer, as confirmed by the 185 exhibitors and the many foreign buyers from Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Netherlands, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, and Spain. The event, which is the top one of its kind in Italy, hosts the most important top brands in the marketplace, including Shimano, Daiwa, Fassa Italia, Trabucco, Tubertini, Blue Springs, Colmic, Maver, Garmin and KD Italy which, in this setting, are able to showcase their new products and guide visitors in the purchase of sports fishing equipment, or the parts needed to make finished products, and in the choice of the ideal apparel for top performance and results.

Not only that… but this year’s event also offers a wealth of opportunities to satisfy the more discerning visitor: from Spinning to catch carnivorous fish, to Match Fishing, using floats to catch fish, and also Traditional and Big game deep sea fishing, and on to Surf Casting which is done on the beach, at notable distances from the shore, and Fly Fishing the sports technique with a typical no-kill philosophy. All enthusiasts of this latter technique will love the “ Pescare show Fly Tying Experience”: a unique opportunity to meet the twenty-eight best fly tyers from all over the world in Hall 4, Stand 458/A. Great professional guests at the show will include Ed Berg (USA), Hans Van Klinken (Holland), Espen Eilertsen (Norway), David Gourong (France), Igor Stancev (Macedonia), Andres Touceda (Spain), Niklas Dahiln (Sweden) and Stuart Hardy (England). Younger visitors will find, at the stand belonging to FIPSAS, the Italian Federation for Sports Fishing, Underwater Activity and Fin Swimming, Hall 1 – Stand 140/C, the ASD Fin Swimming Club, Vicenza with an interesting workshop on how to tie flies for spinning and fly fishing, on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21, from 15:00-19:00.

Pescare Show represents an important moment in which dialogue and updates are on the agenda, thanks also to the conferences organised by Fiera di Vicenza which at each show, aims to make this an increasingly stimulating experience. Another thrilling event not to be missed is the award ceremony on Saturday 20 (Hall 2 – Conference Room, from 15:00 to 16:00), for the FIPO 2015 Golden Hook, which will be presenting awards to the best competitors in fishing sports, including Alex Sottilotta for shore angling, and Marco Volpi for the boat angling speciality.

Those encountering this ancient sport for the first time can visit the fishing schools, like S.I.M., the Italian fly fishing school, which will be offering visitors a mini fly fishing course at the following times on Saturday and Sunday: 10 - 11, 13 - 14 and 16.30 - 17.30 (reservation required) in the Casting Pool. The area dedicated to the expert’s corner offers the opportunity to try out the best possible fishing techniques, from classic to avant-garde, so that even the youngest hopefuls can be genuine angling experts! The big attraction this year is the Acquademo, in the Hall 1, including the largest mobile aquarium in Europe: a structure, 14x2, 60x3, 25 metres and a capacity of 22,400 litres of water, where visitors can attend seminars, demos, presentations and tests carried out by the leading companies in the field. The presence of the Boating Show, dedicated to fishing and pleasure boats, confirms its success for the third year running, with an exhibition of excellences from builders of craft for sports fishing at sea that will charm young and old alike.

Another new feature this year is “Fishing Cine”, the adventure of fishing up on the big screen in the Cinema between Hall 1 and 2, which promises to take viewers on a journey to splendid fishing destinations, with the best documentaries from Sky Caccia&Pesca, HFChannel and Italian Fishing TV (Argentina, Cuba, Costa Rica and many other destinations waiting to be discovered). On Saturday 20 there will be a showing of “Trout and Steelhead in Southern Argentina” from 11.30 to 12.15, and “The Tarpon of the Gardens of the King and the Flats of San Lazaro” from 14.30 to 15.15, while on Sunday, the films will be about “Freshwater Tarpon – Costarica” from 12.30 to 14.30 and “Dorado, jungle exploration” from 14.30 to 15.30.

We should also mention the presence of our partner country for 2016: Slovenia, which will be in Hall 2 – Stand 210/A with an area of 100 sq.m, dedicated to the tourism, food, and fishing of this fantastic country: the most attractive Slovenian water reserves for fishing will be presented at the show.

The success of last year’s event, with 11,500 visitors from all over the world - Japan, UK, Spain and US in particular - shows how the passion for fishing is a great means of sharing experiences and communication, bringing together people of different ages and from apparently distant cultures.

In Italy there are 1,650,000 anglers, of whom the majority are aged between 25 and 54. These are very young followers, enthusiasts preferring fresh water and who come from Central and Northern Italy. Over 150 companies, with an estimated turnover of 420 million euros, and 1481 specialist stores in the country are here to meet the demand of these increasingly attentive, demanding fishing enthusiasts.
