Grade 6 Science Long Range Plans 2015-2016
As stated in the Elementary Schools Program of Studies, an elementary science program should engage students in a process of inquiry and problem solving in which they develop both knowledge and skills. The purpose of this program is to encourage and stimulate children’s learning by nurturing their sense of wonderment, by developing skill and confidence in investigating their surroundings and by building a foundation of experiences and understanding upon which later learning can be based. The topics that we will be studying in Science this year include (the order of units may change): Unit 1 Topic E: Trees and Forests (Sept-Nov 15) Unit 2 Topic C: Sky Science (Nov 15-Jan 30) Unit 3 Topics A & B: Air & Aerodynamics and Flight (Feb-April) Unit 4 Topic D: Evidence and Investigation (May) Review and Testing: (June) This time will be spent helping students review the skills they have learned throughout the year.
