The Pennsylvania Office of Financial Education recently announced a new resource for residents of the Commonwealth who want to gain a better understanding of their personal finances. Your Money’s Best Friend (www.moneysbestfriend.com) presents a wide array of personal finance concepts in clear, everyday language. This non-commercial resource covers concepts such as banking basics, creating and balancing a budget, filing taxes, and buying a home. In addition, Your Money’s Best Friend explores the financial implications of life issues, including marriage, family, higher education, and retirement. Each section explains a concept, spotlights simple tips, and provides links to additional information from trustworthy sources.

Users can also find information about organizations offering financial education programs and events in their local area by entering their ZIP code. Buck, the site’s mascot, will “fetch” information from organizations such as housing and credit counselors, cooperative extension offices, community action agencies, and family savings account providers.
