Blue Booklet 09 PS 5 NEW VENUE - BROADS AREA

I am pleased to announce that Deben Yacht Club have agreed to host an Enterprise Open on Sunday June 7th. The meeting will count to both the Broads Area Woodcock Salver and the Eastern Area Nimbus Trophy. Deben Yacht Club is based in the beautiful historic market town of Woodbridge in Suffolk and was founded in 1838 (making it older than Graham Kirkup). Racing will take place on the tidal reach of the river between Woodbridge and Waldringfield. Due to the tides we sail about two hours before and one hour after high water, so we propose to have three short races back to back followed by a late lunch in the clubhouse. First race will start at approximately 10.30 and the start area will be a 15 minute sail from the club. Enterprises do not feature heavily in club racing although Bob tells me we have 5 paid up members of the association. More details will be available on the website nearer the time and the club are looking for a minimum of 6 pre entries to make the meeting viable. Please support us and enjoy good sailing on a beautiful stretch of river. John Adcroft - E 22558 One Last Time Biggles.

IF YOU ARE A NEW MEMBER, WHERE DID YOU SEE/HEAR ABOUT US? __ Is the Measurement Certificate in your name? If not, then now is the ideal time to have the boat re-weighed/re-named/re-certificated. Re-weighing entails the signed statement of an approved measurer detailing the weight and number of correctors and the new hull weight. Strike out any sails that you do not have on the old certificate and send it in with a £5.00 remittance. Re-naming is subject to the new name being available (the Hamble office will contact you if it is not).

Blue Booklet 09 PS 8 2009 MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP NOTICE OF RACE The 2009 Enterprise Masters Championship will be held under the burgee of Ogston SC 25-26 April. The Organising Authority of the event will be the joint Race Committees of the host club and the Enterprise Association. The event will be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the International Enterprise Class Rules, the Sailing Instructions and any amendments thereto. All helms must be at least 40 years old at the start of the first race. Competitors must prove current membership of a National Association affiliated to Enterprise International and must wear an approved buoyancy aid at all times whilst racing. A boat is entirely responsible for her own safety, whether afloat or ashore, and nothing, whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions or anywhere else, reduces this responsibility. It is for the boat to decide whether she is fit to sail in the conditions in which she will find herself. By launching, the boat confirms that she is fit for those conditions and her crew is competent to sail and compete in them. The boat is required to hold adequate insurance and in particular to hold insurance against third- party claims in the sum of at least £3,000,000. Nothing done by the organisers can reduce the responsibility of the boat nor will it make the organisers responsible for any loss, damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the racing. The organisers encompass everyone helping to run the race and the event, and include the organising authority, the race committee, the race officer, patrol boats and Beach Masters. The provision of patrol boats does not relieve the boat of her responsibilities. The fact that the race committee conducts inspections of a boat does not reduce the responsibilities of the boat set out in this paragraph. Registration will take place in the Reception Area from 0930 hrs on Saturday.
