Call for Expressions of Interest in presenting at Connecting Rural Business Women 2017
Theme: Connecting to the wisdom of our past
Sunday 7 and Monday 8 May 2017 in Beechworth in beautiful North East Victoria.
About the Conference The inspiration for Connecting Rural Business Women came in 2011, from the feedback of women who participated in a series of rural business and leadership workshops held in 2009-2010. A small team of local business women decided to build on the enormous success of these workshops by developing an event which would encourage women to continue to grow their networks and expand their skills and expertise. Now in its 6th year, the theme for 2017 is ‘Connecting with the wisdom of our past”, which we envision will attract a diverse range of workshop topics to engage and challenge our participants. We are also returning to the home of CRBW2011, the George Kerferd Hotel Complex. This venue offers spacious conference and workshop rooms, quality catering, excellent accommodation, all set in the picturesque grounds of Mayday Hills.
Audience Over 300 women have attended the previous CRBW events, many returning 3, 4 and 5 times. Around two thirds of the participants came from North East Victoria, with others coming from southern NSW and other parts of Victoria, including several from Melbourne. Approximately a quarter of the participants were primary producers, others came from a diverse range of businesses and organisation, including retail, services, professional, all levels of government and media. Workshop Presenters
For the 2017 conference, we are expecting about 100 women to attend and are seeking presentations that fit with the overall theme, and into one of the four conference streams: Connecting with self Connecting with each other Connecting with businesses Connecting with the wider world
Session Format
Presenters are invited to provide interesting and interactive workshops in keeping with the overall theme. 1 hour in length. There will be 3-4 workshops running concurrently and participants can select which one they wish to attend. Participants will have the opportunity to provide constructive feedback to workshop presenters.

All presenters will be included in our participants’ workbook and listed on our website and we can include a link to your website. Information to be provided by the presenter. Any special offers and promotional info can be included in the participants’ showbag.
In general, workshop presenters will not be remunerated for their conference registration and related expenses, however they will only be charged the early bird rate for their conference registration, no matter when they register. Keynote Speakers
We are also looking for 4 keynotes speakers, also in keeping with the overall theme: Opening speaker – to set the tone and pace of the conference, engage participants, get them curious about what is going to happen and inspire them to get the most out of their involvement over the two days. Dinner speaker – informative, inspiring and entertaining. We have women attending for the dinner only and partners/spouses of participants. Day 2 opening speaker – informative practical workshop, topic that will be relevant to all participants. Closing speaker – to draw the conference to a close, strong message, send participants off inspired and ready to make use of all that they have learnt over the previous two days.
