Whew! Luckily we have completed the Pharaoh’s pyramid before he died. However, your neck may be on the line (literally) if this tomb was not properly designed and constructed. To be on the safe side and not end up in a tomb yourself, you need to check your work and prove to the Pharaoh’s family that you performed your job correctly.

Visit the links in the Vizier Journal. Use the information you learn to answer the following questions. Once completed you will know whether the Pharaoh’s family will be pleased or not with the job you have done.

1. You built the pyramid on the West Bank of the Nile River. Would the Pharaoh be pleased? Why or Why not? 2. What directions do the sides of the pyramids face? 3. You needed many workers to complete this great task. During what season did you complete most of the work? Was this a good decision? Why or Why not? 4. The Pharaoh needs many items with him on his journey to the afterlife. What have you chosen to place inside his tomb? 5. This pyramid needs to be the most magnificent one ever built. What material will you pour of the surface to make sure it is smooth and shines in the desert sun? The Queen is exhausted from all the preparations for the funeral of her beloved husband. The weather is unbearable and you cannot expect her to travel to the West Bank of the Nile to make sure you did your job. She has demanded that you present her with a model of the Great Pyramid made to scale. Visit the following Web site and create a model that will satisfy the Queen. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/pyramid/geometry/model.html

You may use any material you want. Some suggestions include: clay, sugar cubes, playing cards and gum drops.

Prove to the great Pharaoh’s family that you are indeed a Vizier of knowledge and wisdom. Before they pay you, they expect to complete one last challenge. Go to the link below and play the Pyramid Challenge game. Only then, will you convince the family of your expertise. http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/ancient/egyptians/pyramid_builder_game.shtml Across Down 4 the spiral system used for pyramid construction 1 longest river in the world (2 words) 7 the coffin the pharaoh will be placed in 2 thieves who steal pyramids (2 words) 8 where rock is cut out of the ground 3 material used for the pyramids 9 rooms inside of the pyramid 5 smaller early ancient Egyptian tombs 10 home of the great pyramid complex 6 favorite animal of Egyptians
