Homecoming 2011 ~ Queen Candidates
Queen candidates if you have any questions please see Ms. Bailey, Mrs. Frazier or Mrs. Workman. Parents if necessary please contact me at work 663-0802 or at home 498- 9592 or by e-mail [email protected].
Please fill out the form enclosed so that the master of the ceremonies can introduce you that evening. A parent (usually your dad but certainly can be your mom) or relative will escort you that is over the age of 21. There are no exceptions to this rule….if you can not get an escort let me know I have a very nice one.
You and your escort must be at the game and check in with me by 8:00 p.m. (no exceptions) I must see your escort by that time. I will be standing below the bleachers in front of the steps in the grass on the home side.
Queen candidates should wear a nice dress, skirt or very nice pants. Most all wear a dress that evening. Please remember that if it is raining the field is extremely muddy and you will need an umbrella. Escorts usually wear a dress shirt, tie and maybe a sports coat, but of course you do not have to.
On homecoming day (October 7th) during 6th period we will participate in the pep rally. Each queen candidate will parade around the track in anything that is not motorized (bicycle, buggy, wagon, rollerblade, big wheel) with signs, balloons or whatever is appropriate. The queen candidates will be released at 1:25. Please do not get students out of class. Please bring all needed supplies. If you need or want a parent to push/pull you in your cart/wagon/buggy that will be fine. After signing in at the parents can park at the city park and walk over to the football field. Also, they are just free to come watch the rally, but they have to sign in at the front office
Candidates should return the information sheet by Friday, September 30th to Ms. Bailey or Ms. Frazier or Ms. Workman. Candidates can start decorating the halls on Monday, October 3rd. Please remember to campaign in a mature-professional style. Do not interrupt the school day making campaign materials. This should be done at home or after school with adviser supervision. Each candidate can only put up five posters. You are also permitted to give out candy.
We will practice 6th period on the football field on Wednesday, October 5th and Thursday, October 6th, 2011 when Ms. Bailey and Ms. Frazier or Ms. Workman calls you out of 6th period. Absolutely do not be absent on Thursday 6th period or you will not know how to line up for half-time homecoming. Your escorts will not attend practice. It takes every candidate to practice on Thursday. I also expect you to participate in all the weeks dress up activities.
