January 9, 2017 – 6:00 PM ______Present: Terry Bergeron, Chair; Tim Demillo, Vice Chair; Tom Goding; Judy Diaz; Keith Cornelio; Shiloh LaFreniere, Town Manager

1. Pledge of Allegiance – 6:00 pm

2. Minutes: Dec. 26, 2016 - M/M/S Tim/Tom to accept the minutes as written. Vote 5-0-0

3. Old Business - No old business.

4. Fire Dept. – Wage Rates (2017-2018): - State minimum wage rose to $9.00 an hour on January 7th, 2017. At the last board meeting in December, the Board voted to raise any firefighter making less than $9.00/hr to the mandatory $9.00/hr State minimum wage, from January to June 2017. Shiloh, Terry, and Tim met with Chief Booker and Deputy Chief Corey Leclerc to discuss wages going forward from July 2017 through June 2018; how it would impact other base pays (officers, etc.), and how to keep the current advanced training and certification incentive intact.

M/M/S Judy/Keith to set the rate (as referenced in the rate sheets dated 1/17/2017–6/30/2017 and 7/1/2017–12/31/2017 for January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017 at $9.00/hr for any firefighter not currently earning $9.00/hr, without impacting the base pay. Vote 4-1-0 Tim opposed.

M/M/S Judy/Tom to raise the minimum wage as mandated by the State to $10.00/hr for those firefighters not earning $10.00/hr from January 1, 2018 through December 31st, 2018. Again, without impacting the base pay. Vote 5-0-0

5. Other Business – No other business

6. Executive Session – Union (Town Office): M/M/S – Tim/Judy to go into Executive Session under MRSA Title 1 Chapter 13 Section 405, Subsection 6 for the purpose of discussing Unions – Town Office. Vote 5-0-0. Terry declared the Board out of Executive Session.

M/M/S - Tim/Terry to adjourn at 7:57. Vote 5-0-0.
