Operational Feedback DEX (DEX 7) Status at 26 Feb 04

Summary DEX 7 Work: Sufficient resource is in place and overall good progress is being made across all areas of development with the relevant capabilities identified and under development / review. The target remains for this DEX to be developed sufficiently for it to be ready for review by late Mar / early Apr. The DEX will be available for implementation after a successful review. General Work: (which will benefit all DEXs). Work on the infrastructure e.g. long form generation and HTML generation, has been completed early to facilitate testing and review of DEXs. The use of OWL (W3C semantic web standard) as the RDL representation is progressing and will be debated at the SC4 meeting next week in Fort Lauderdale.

Progress

DEX Infrastructure i) EXPRESS long form generation implemented and made available to all DEXs and capabilities. ii) P28 XML Schema presentation implemented and integrated into DEXlib. This reuses the P28 XML Schema facility that is part of the STEP modules environment. iii) XML help facility implemented. iv) Generation of HTML from dexlib XML completed. Working with Nik Barron at Pennant to make an HTML version of dexlib available on the PLCS/Pennant web site.

DEX 7 Capabilities i) On behalf of the MOD Eurostep modellers are currently developing 25 capabilities which have either been identified as DEX 7 Capabilities or are Capabilities that are required in order for DEX 7 to function correctly.. ii) The agreed list of capabilities to be developed is shown over the page. In summary: of the 25 capabilities in development 14 are complete (and require review by another modeller; 5 are partially complete; 13 work has not yet started.

DEX 7 Test Data i) Meetings have taken place between Mike Newton, Rob Bodington, Les Debenham, Adrian Blenkiron and Gordon Robb to extend the development of the Bike test data. The aim is to make the Test Data sufficiently rich and robust to be used to Test all the DEXs currently under development (although industrial data might still be required for final validation). The initial scope of the test data set has been agreed, and at the most recent meeting (25 Feb at Keynsham) the data was broken out into Functional and Physical views.

DEX 7 Reference Data

ii) Started development iii) Started identifying Ref Data iv) Reference Data infrastructure Investigating web services + OWL Looking at use of Protégé and existing Eurostep RDL Simple demo developed DEX 7 Capabilities v) Agreed list of capabilities to be developed (90% indicates that review is still required).
