a. The breeder of a litter shall use his prefix/suffix only as a prefix (i.e. before the names) when registering the litter. The owners of a registered prefix/suffix shall be entitled to add this as a suffix to the name of any dog coming into his registered ownership, if space permits. This addition of a suffix to the registered name of a dog shall be limited to one and no prefix/suffix shall be interchanged. b. The prefix/suffix should be “made up” words, but may be the names of houses or landed property belonging to or connected with the applicant/s. The use of city/town/suburb names is NOT allowed, neither are letters, numbers or adjectives or nouns appropriate to the name of a dog. c. All applications will be at the discretion of the FBCSA Executive in preparation for submission to the SA Stud Book, who will do the final grant of the Kennel Prefix/Suffix. In no circumstance may the grantee dispose or attempt to dispose of a prefix or suffix. d. A prefix or suffix constitutes part of a name and cannot be changed after use or for registration for any person other than the grantee who is entitled to its exclusive use. e. The Executive will propose the use of a prefix/suffix for a partnership consisting of a FBCSA Club double membership to the SA Stud Book. The prefix/suffix (if granted by the SA Stud Book) may be used for the registration of dogs owned by the partnership or the individuals of the partnership (by special concession for the FBCSA), provided that the partnership is still valid. f. The registration fee for a prefix/suffix is R791.00 (seven hundred and ninety one rand) and proof of payment is required with the application form.
This fee structure is compulsory and inseparable and covers registration of the prefix/suffix for life or reserved for 10 years only, if not an active Breeder.
Fees are subject to change on an annual basis.
g. The FBCSA is a Breed Society established to promote the Boxer Dog Breed, by co-ordination and promotion of the interests and objects of its members; it does not have a Company/cc registration number and is not VAT registered.
The FBCSA in terms of the Animal Improvement Act No 62 of 1998 - Registration Certificate No 62/98/B-12, is now the only recognised breed society in the country to legally register ALL Boxer dogs. The Act further stipulates that there can only be one Breeders’ Society of a particular breed and registration of these animals may only be done through a registered Registering Authority, such as SA Stud Book. The Boxer has been declared by the Registrar as a “Breed” and was accordingly designated as such in the Government Gazette.
The Federation of Boxer Clubs of Southern Africa is consequently the only legal Breeders’ Society for Boxers in South Africa and therefore only breeders who are registered with the Federation can legally claim to be breeding Boxers.
Please familiarise yourself with the FBCSA rules, regulations and breeding requirements before breeding from your Boxers.
