Test Compressor Safety Valves (150 PSI.& 175 PSI)

If Equipped – Check Air Dryer Operation & Service

Take & Record all Wheel Measurements

Check Traction Motor Support Bearing Condition and Lubrication

Check/Add Lubrication – Traction Motor Drive Gear Cases

Inspect – Wheels, Trucks & Associated Parts

Examine/Test – Locomotive Handbrake

Renew Filters – Fuel, Oil and Air

Ensure Locomotive is Free of Oil and Debris

Inspect Safety Appliances

Inspect Exhaust Spark Arresting Equipment

Clean & Clear Main Generator Aspirator Pit

Clean Out - Exhaust Retention Traps

Clean – Oil Separator Element

Inspect & Ensure Fuel Tank, pumps, gauges and related parts are free from leaks

Test Operation of Engine Protective Device & Governor Low Oil Shutdown

Inspect Condition & Service life of Fire Fighting Equipment

Ensure Locomotive is free of Fire & Accident Hazard

Calibrate – Air Flow Meter

Test Air brake Gauges

Test Control System

Drain Pollution Tank

Inspect Interior & Exterior of Traction Motors (replace brushes if required)

Check Operation & Rotation of Cooling Fans

Clean Traction Alternator Slip Ring & Renew Brushes as Required Check - All Lights for Defects

Check Batteries - Specific Gravity, Water Level - Wash Batteries

Test- Ground Relay Protection (Re-seal)
