General Information

This document contains information and forms for admission to the LL.M in International and European Law at the Institute for European Studies, VUB

Deadline : 28 February for admission to the programme starting in October. Decision of the Academic Board on applications: by 1 April.

Required documents:

1. Application form 2. Official copy of last academic record and/or final law degree 3. A certificate of proficiency in English (TOEFL-test), except when law degree was conferred by an English- language University 4. Two signed photographs (passport size) 5. Statement on financial resources o Waiver: The IES may be in a position to grant a tuition fee waiver on the basis of appropriately certified merit and need. For the application procedure, see the link in the box below. 6. Two confidential written reference letters to be supplied separately by the referees. At least one of the letters must concern the applicant’s academic work.

The administration of the LL.M programme can and will NOT be able to extend any financial support, with the exception of the tuition waiver, to a student arriving at the Programme without having secured the minimum amount for living expenses necessary for the full period of the academic year. This application form needs to be signed and dated and sent to the address at the top of this form. It should also be uploaded electronically to the URL mentioned above (university online registration system). The personal reference forms need to be sent directly by the referee to the secretariat of the programme.

Requests for tuition fee waivers should be submitted in the form of a motivation letter, together with the application form. Please note that selection of candidates is at the discretion of the Academic Board of the Programme. If selected, you will receive a payment request. Payment of the tuition fee will be done in two instalments: a first instalment needs to be paid before 1 June. A second instalment (i.e. the remainder) is due before the start of the academic year. Selected students that wish alternative payment schemes should contact our financial administration directly ([email protected]).

Cancellation Policy: in case of cancellation before the start of the academic year, an administration fee of 10% of the total tuition fee will be charged. Cancellations before 1 December will result in a fee of € 80, and a reimbursement of 50% of the total tuition fee. Cancellations after 1 December will not be reimbursed.

The LLM In International and European Law is a one year post-graduate course given in the English language.
