TRACK LETTERMAN & SQUAD MEMBER EXPECTATIONS

1. In order to receive a letter in Track at Cole High School, a boy/girl must score a total of 10 points in a track season or score at least 1 at the District Track Meet.

2. You must attend all Track workouts unless they have been excused by the coach, prior to practice.

3. You must attend all Track Meets unless they have been excused by the coach, prior to meet.

4. Your conduct should be such as to bring no embarrassment to him/herself, their teammates, the school or to the coaches while participating in the sport of Track.

5. Grooming should be as follows: A. Clean Shave B. Conventional haircut C. Sideburn no lower than bottom of ear D. Properly dressed in shirt, shorts (or sweat pants) and shoes E. No Jewelry – at practice or meets

6. Must return all track equipment that has been issued to him/her. These are items such as sweats, uniforms, spikes and or other shoes.

7. Responsible for all track equipment used. These are items such as shot-put, discus, pole vault, tape measures, cross bars, and batons.

8. You will be on time and properly dressed for practices, meets, and classes. Tardiness and dress code violations will result in time for improvement, which can include, but not be limited to: extra running, or agilities.

9. You will ride to and from the meet with the team. Riding home with your parents may be permitted if you have the coach's permission. A coach must see your parents before you are permitted to leave.

10. Any athlete that is not picked up within 10 minutes of returning back to campus from a track meet will not be going to another track meet. Please make arrangements prior to getting back to school.

11. 400 METER CLUB T-shirts can be obtained by running times of: boys – under 54, girls – under 65 This can be on an official 400-meter time, or a coach's watch during a 1600-m relay split.

12. All athletes must make a 70 or higher in all classes. Failing a class prevents participation at Track Meets but does not prevent him/her from practicing. Attendance will still be expected.

13. Anyone missing practice with coach's permission will make up running before the next meet.

If make-up running is not made up prior to next meet - you will not go

Anyone missing practice WITHOUT notifying the Coach will not be permitted to participate in the next track available track meet. Missing track practice with an unexcused absence will be 5 miles.

After the 2nd unexcused absence - you may be dismissed from the team

14. At any time the coach reserves the right to change or add rules as he/she feels would benefit the program. 15. Baseball players and Tennis players will have adjusted workouts and are exempt from workouts on the day of a tennis meet or baseball game.

AT THE MEETS: 1) No athlete is allowed to leave the stadium grounds under any conditions. 2) Always have your uniform tucked in and sweats not sagging. 3) NO boys on the girl’s bus and no girls on the boys’ bus 4) Nobody is allowed on any other teams’ bus 5) Once we are at the meet we will not go back to our bus as well. 6) Boys will not be allowed in the girls camp and girls will not be allowed in the boys camp. 7) Know what and when your events are and be there. DO NOT MISS your event! 8) If you skip your event, for reasons other than injury, they may not be able to participate in the next meet. 9) If you are on a relay…do not throw the Baton. (automatic disqualification)

BEING A PART OF ATHLETICS IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT AND CAN BE TAKEN AWAY AT ANY TIME
