JOB TITLE Crime Reduction Project Officer

GRADE BG11

MANAGED BY Crime Reduction Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR 0 staff currently (future may include support staff subject to agreement / work priority)

Purpose of the Job

To manage and co-ordinate strategies and plans that enable neighbourhood prioritised crime reduction, prevention and safety issues to be addressed

To identify shared outcomes (with key partner agencies including statutory, voluntary, community and business sector) that will generate improved crime reduction performance via the application of innovative and cost effective approaches.

To lead and direct a ‘virtual’ team of key multi-agency professionals working in tandem to achieve the same outcomes; creating and maintaining established working groups as needed. This will include taking a lead and working within regional groupings and initiatives.

To work as part of the Crime Reduction Team to deliver an efficient, fair and transparent commissioning and performance management cycle.

To identify and foster flexible working methods that will maximise the impact of crime reduction within a changing political climate and that will deliver on the priorities identified via Partnership Strategic Assessments.

To lead, direct and manage the development, delivery, evaluation and financial management processes across a range of crime reduction projects and initiatives in line with Bristol Project Manager tools and techniques.

To represent Safer Bristol Partnership at local, regional and national levels.

1. To draft, consult and maintain strategy in specific areas ensuring links are made with other overlapping areas / partnerships.

2. To define and develop action plans and initiatives that satisfy crime reduction obligations and performance targets in accordance with the Government’s objectives, Council’s Action Plan, the Partnership Strategic Assessment and local community identified priorities.

3. To champion the implementation and performance tracking of a range of crime reduction projects and initiatives whilst ensuring partners and relevant organisations are engaged and on board.

4. To attend and utilise existing or new structures to problem solve and generate innovative partnership solutions to the crime reduction challenge and seek funding opportunities.

5. To monitor and evaluate service provider performance, collate management information and report to the Crime Reduction Manager against related commissioned services

6. To monitor and report on the impact of projects / initiatives and ensure outcomes are moving in the right direction in relation to the following parameters: Crime Reduction targets; Cost; Time; Quality; Equality (including undertaking Equality Impact Assessments). This may involve monthly / quarterly performance reporting against agreed performance criteria.

7. To be the main point of contact between Safer Bristol commissioned and partner services for advice, guidance and support in the development of service providers service specifications and service delivery.

8. To market, present and or publicise initiative outcomes. To assess the impact of the message on community confidence and to mitigate negative effects accordingly.

9. To establish processes that fully account for costs associated with initiatives and identify recommendations where disparities to planned budget forecast are identified. Ensure that proper disbursements of

10.Establish harmonious and constructive working relationships with colleagues, partner agencies and other council departments in order to maximise contributions to crime reduction agenda and Council objectives as a whole.
