LANDMAX DeskMap - install directions

As of December 2015, you will eventually need to upgrade your Landmax Deskmap software to ensure the subscription passcodes will function in the future. Your current Version 2.4 will only work with passcodes through 2016. If you have a previous version and wish to upgrade to Version 2.6, delete the DESKMAP folder on your C drive and the launch icon from your desktop before the new installation.

Our disc version taxmap product is packaged with the Landmax DeskMap viewing software. Landmax DeskMap provides our customers with a supplement to the online tax map viewing links within the Landmax system at www.landmaxdata.com . If the viewing software install has not yet been run on the PC, or you wish to upgrade to the new Landmax DeskMap software, follow these quick installation steps:

1. Insert the disc into your computer or download the installation from www.landmaxdata.com , Products, Downloads & Instructions.. 2. From your desktop menu, right click the START button, then left click Explore. 3. You will now see your drives. It’s important you remember the disc tray drive letter as you may want to use it as the ‘default’ drive location to view the maps once the software is loaded. However, before continuing, look under/within the C: drive to see if the deskmap folder already exists. If it does, the installation has most likely already been done and you should exit. If you do see this folder, but do not see the executable icon on your desktop (LANDMAX DeskMap Version 2.6), proceed to Step 7 below. If the folder does not exist, continue to Step 4. 4. Find the file named Deskmap_installer whether its on your disc or you downloaded in from our site. Double left click on this file, then left click on UNZIP, OK, then CLOSE. 5. Now get back to your Desktop Menu, by left clicking on the X in the upper right corner. 6. At the desktop, right click START, then left click Explore. Find the deskmap folder under/within the C: drive. Double left click on the deskmap folder and find the Workstation Setup folder. Double left click on that folder and within it you will find the RT7install file. Double left click this file, then left click NEXT, INSTALL, FINISH. 7. Now left click your BACK button. You will see the several folders and files within the deskmap folder. You want to find the one separate file (not within a folder) which has the icon labeled as LANDMAX DeskMap Version 2.6 (698 KB-application). Right click on it, then left click on Send To, and left click on Desktop. This will place the executable icon on your desktop menu.

When now using the LANDMAX DeskMap application, you will be prompted with the Default TAXMAP Folder: . This allows you to ‘point’ the viewing software to the folder, or location, of the taxmaps. With the initial installation, the program automatically defaults (or points) to the C:\taxmaps\town mendon folder. Most users will want to edit and change this path to the CD tray drive of the PC (C:\ or E:\, that’s why we told you to remember the CD tray drive above in Step 3). However, if you want to maintain the tax maps on the hard drive of the PC or on an office server, you can edit the Default TAXMAP Folder : to the particular path or folder you want. The program will always remember the last folder it was directed to. Now Launch and you are running the viewing software.

Subscription renewal : Whether you are running the installation for the very first time, or had done it previously, you must eventually renew your Subscription Passcode when you are prompted to “renew your subscription”…at the Launch screen. To do this, simply Right Click on the LANDMAX logo and enter the new 10 digit Subscription Passcode (2 numbers, 6 letters, 2 numbers-not case sensitive) located on the latest disc label, over the existing Passcode.

Standard Java software is necessary for the Landmax DeskMap application and can be downloaded or installed for free at www.Java.com if the computer doesn’t already have it.
